The big Animation Question

Post by Anakin »

Hi,

untill i find someone, who wants to make the animations for me i would like to try myselfe on it.
But there are so many questions i have and i hope you can help me with them.

1. What is SkeletonName, SkeletonLowRes, AnimationName CollisionRootScale, CollisionHeadOffset good for and where do i need them??

2. How I have now found out, you have a trick for quick enveloping. Do you have tips for me, how i can make easie the IDLE animations? Up to now I have turned for every frame the bones a little. Indeed, this looks very choppy.

3. I need a complete new Animation set for the geonosian. I have all the bones for the unit added to the mesh. What files do i need?? If i'm right i need a new basepose. But what else??

I hope you can help me

SkeletonName, SkeletonLowRes and AnimationName are explained in the bf2_Jedi_creation.doc and AnimationSystem.txt. CollisionRootScale and CollisionHeadOffset do as they sound, for scaling the collision from the root node and adjusting the head collision on irregular proportioned characters like the Wookiee and Jawa, likely for headshot reasons. Examples of usage can be found in several ODFs in the assets.

There is no trick to enveloping, if you mean using GATOR to transfer weights then that really only works well when the topology is the same. You'll still have to refine the areas of deformation whether you use it or not.

Please ask animation questions in the 3D Modeling & Animation forum.
