I'm gonna try to find one that spawns us on a (relatively) flat plane, for the sake of having GTia in the immediate area. Preferably with interesting surroundings.

If you find a good seed, make sure to test it out to see if it spawns you in the same place every time. Seeds don't usually do that, but it seems that seeds that are negative numbers like to always spawn you at 0,0.

Fun fact: we had spout installed on the server. I was the only one using it, though, just testing out its functionality. I don't think I'll include it, though. Like I've said before, I'm not going to force my players to download anything aside from Minecraft itself to play on the server, and if we have certain benefits given to some players but not others, not only will those advantages take away from the vanilla feel, but also will separate the population of the server into elitist and non-elitist groups.

MASSIVE SERVER UPDATE EDIT:
Taking cues from Grev, I took the seed from our previous world and typed that into the new server, producing interesting results. The spawn isn't quite where I would like it to be (it spawned me in the same place 3 times in SSP, then a totally different spot in SMP), but Gandalf joined right as I put the server up and we built a path from the spawn point to the nearby village (like a 20 second walk). The village can provide us with free food (replant seeds, please) and shelter until we get GT City up and running You spawn in a swamp, but the village is at a 3-way biome intersection of the swamp, a desert, and plains. There's also a nearby evergreen forest biome (lots and lots of wood), a mountain range (I call first building) with quite an extensive cave system built into it. Also there's a deep ravine in the plains biome within walking distance from the village (on your way to the mountains). Next to the ravine is also a pumpkin patch. PLEASE only take ONE pumpkin. Everyone's going to want at least one and until we find another patch or some seeds, that's all we've got.

And above all: DO NOT DESTROY THE VILLAGE
1) I like it. And
2) It can provide shelter for any new arrivals. We can build GT City close to it in the plains, there's lots of open, relatively flat land.

Toggle creative mode: /gamemode <name> 0/1, 0 for survival, 1 for creative.

DId the server shut down or am I severely lagging?

Also, anyone who hasa bucket or mushrooms will recieve coal in a trade. Or crops.

Not sure if its just me but I got a Socket Error and when I log it gives me End of Stream now

It's not just you. Same thing happened to me.

Doubt it, since I got the update this morning, played for about 5 hours, and it only stopped working now.
I think the endermen probably moved one of the redstone wires in Twi's computer which broke the server.

That seems really unlikely, but....
It could be. I think it's just memory overload myself. (7 people were online at the time)

ALRIGHT GUYS LISTEN UP

After a bit of Google searching, it appears that my server crashes because the 1.8.1 fixed the shift+click bug on the client side, but not the server side. You know what that means? If you use shift+click, YOU are personally responsible for crashing the server.

So stop it.

I've been getting massive framerate drops only on the server. :/

Has anyone else experienced this problem?
