Protector_Pulch wrote:Oh my. It seems Schizo is GT's very own Midas. Whatever he touches turns into gold. Although he had done some rather nice terrain engineering, GuitarMan had not made any nice sides - and passed the map on to one of the best side-makers on GT. So a great project began...
Heh, Majin was the one who made the sides, so give him the credit for that. I did the map-laying and all that stuff, but Majin had offered to make some movie-accurate sides, and I love accuracy, so I figured why not.
I'm not going to be around until around... tomorrow night or so. So if you guys could play through and let me know of any bugs, when I come back I'll take care of them for the final version.
Also, what possible additional game modes would you guys want? I was considering adding a CTF mode, and maybe an XL mode with infantry-only, and no vehicles (or at least a BARC Speeder or something small). I was also considering making the GCW era for Conquest mode just like the CW era, but with shipped vehicles and weapons, for those people who don't really care for realism. So CW would be all about accuracy, and GCW just regular ol' BFII fun. And then the CTF and infantry-only XL mode, and any other game modes you guys might like. Let me know what you think of that, and I'll add them when I come back tomorrow.

Oh man, why couldn't this have came out after I'd found my game CD? Schizo, Guitarman, Majin, wow this looks great. Oh and Schizo, from the looks of the map, might you put in 2 flag ctf?

WOW, Great job Guitarman and Schizo! It really feels like a battle straight outta Episode 3. I lost all the command posts one minute of playing. But good job!

Hold up a sec, you're saying it was NEVER on rapidshare? Earlier im pretty sure it was a rapidshare link. Anyway, rapidshare makes you pay by making you buy a premuim acccount.
Anyway, the map is awsome.Lotsa strategy, but like i said before, the sky could have more light in it

It was never on RapidShare. The link was always a Filefront link.
The sky is staying how it is. It's meant to be dark and gloomy. It sets the atmosphere for the whole map.
Also, I'm still waiting to hear what kind of game modes you guys want. I'm definitely going to making the GCW era on regular conquest the same thing as the CW era, but with shipped weapons and units, so people have a choice between the movie-accurate conquest mode and just regular shipped BFII conquest mode. But I'm still waiting for your opinions on what other game modes you guys might want, such as CTF, infantry-only XL mode, etc.
EDIT: Since I haven't gotten any bug reports and the like, I'm assuming there's nothing to fix. But remember that this is your last chance if you find a bug, because once the final version is out, that's it. Let me know now, or else it won't be fixed. But for now I'm assuming there's no bugs and I can go on and finish it up for a final version.
Things I'm going to do for the final:
- Put in a whole new game mode for the move-accurate battle and such, and make conquest just regular shipped sides for people who don't necessarily like accuracy. Making a new "movie-accuracy" game mode isn't that hard to do, but the hard part will figuring out how to localize it correctly on the map select menu without having to replace any key files. If I do add the new game mode, chances are it won't be localized on the map select menu, but you guys don't really care, do you?
- Still gotta figure out what new heroes will go on the map for the shipped conquest mode. I was considering having Aayla or Quinlan Vos (probably Quinlan Vos if I can get the model from Tean) with some customized single-saber animations, and somebody else like Durge or Asajj or something for the CIS... someone who hasn't been overused, like Maul or whatever. Too bad I don't have access to a Sora Bulq model... then again, maybe I could ask Tean if he could do something with the Mace Windu model... simple reskin and attach some hair, and bam. I'll ask him about that, because he'd be the perfect CIS hero for this map.
- Put in a 2-Flag CTF mode. This mode will all take place in the valley; no fighting on the river bank, since it'd be almost impossible to go all the way from one end of the map to the other without dying. Both teams will have two CPs each. No vehicles aside from STAPs and BARCs.
- Possibly an infantry-only XL mode. No vehicles, just a ton of infantry, all in the valley. Whether or not the CPs on the riverbank will still be there is still up for debate. But it'll probably be like CTF, with all the CPs down in the valley... I may change my mind though.
- Vehicle mode is still being debated on. Probably not going to happen, but if I'm going to have an infantry-only mode, why not a vehicle-only mode? It really depends on what I feel like doing.
- I was actually considering this, but I don't think I'm going to do it... maybe put a mode in with mainly flyers to dogfight with over the battlefield, and give both teams some small vehicles like AT-RTs or something to battle it out with on the ground. Mainly an air battle though. Probably not going to happen, but since I myself am a true-blooded pilot, there's always a possibility.
- Order 66 mode is unlikely, but a possibilty.
- Of course, a mini-map. I'm going to see if I can get ahold of squipple to see if he can make me one.
* Note on new game modes: All game modes will use shipped units, aside from the movie-accurate game mode, obviously. Besides the movie-accurate game mode, all the others will simply be plain old shipped sides, but with the Republic still donning the 91st skins.
Things NOT showing up in the final:
- A GCW era. I never liked how they made CW-only planets like Utapau, Mygeeto, Felucia, etc. GCW anyway. It's always bothered me. So Saleucami, another one of those CW-only maps, will not have a GCW era. If you want to play GCW on Saleucami, then check out Captain Mazda's map. But I'm not putting it in.
- A new sky.

i have the exact same pic installed on my computer, and it seems like a cross beetween them. But the eye area seems to be too large in the middle ingame and the side corners of the visor are supposed to be sharpish, not roundish.

Schizo... where's the river bank?

The map was only a valley with a few ponds in it... where was the river?

Just played it, fun map. I think you should expand it out more, but from my understanding thats not going to happen (its nearing final release).
I definatly enjoy playing on Salucami. you hit the nail on the head when it came to atmosphere and environment.

... Right in front of the Republic base. The river you cross over to get to the LAAT crash on the other side. That's the river. Of course, it's broken into two by the land bridge the Republic uses to cross over. I did that so as all the units wouldn't drown trying to cross the river.

I wanted to try to keep it a fairly small map, because the larger it is, the harder it is to make it really detailed and such. I had enough trouble trying to make it look authentic as it is, with the map this small. Making it bigger would just make it more difficult to make it look good.

That was my aim.

This is no doubt one of the best maps I've ever played. I can't stop going back to it! It's because of the fact that the AI are intelligent, and you actually have to use cover! It's so much more fun taking out a ton of Super Battle Droids from behind a couple of boxes or a wrecked AT-TE than running out into the open and dying instantly, like in other maps where a few shots = death and there's nothing to hide behind save a couple of constantly moving vehicles.
So anyway, thanks for the awesome map! And Majin for the sides of course, the shipped sides are so, sooo boring.

Hmm... didn't notice that. I'll have to fix it.
Also, holy crap. Your ground is like, super light. Switch it to high quality and it should look a lot better.

Ok.I change my Lightning to High.Normaly it's on Medium because Teancum said his Pack works better with Medium Settings and im to lazy to switch from Map to Map in the Settings. But I will check it and made some Screens.
Your Saleucami Map and Captain_Mazdas are pure pleasure.

Actually, I meant switch the terrain quality to high. It looks a lot better. You can keep the lighting at medium; it doesn't make a difference. But I've always noticed that low terrain settings (not just on this map, but others as well) tend to look really bad in-game. The terrain is either too light or too dark.
Glad to hear you enjoyed the map though. I'm currently waiting on squipple for a mini-map. I'm not rushing him, since I know he already has enough work on his hands, so I may not get it till this weekend or next week. I also have a few tweaks I have to make to the sides and some little object tweaks here and there. Then I gotta set up the CTF mode correctly and get it working in-game. Then it should be all set for Final release.
