Ok, so hearing all of the discussion about Knights of the Old Republic, and how a ton of people seem to enjoy it, I've decided to get one of them, possibly both, though less likely. I can get a copy of either, but I want to know which has better storyline, gameplay, etc. If anyone could tell me which they think is better and why, it'd be sweet! Or, if you don't want to write out a full post, you can just fill in the blanks with 1 or 2.

Storyline: Which one has a better and more immersive storyline?
Gameplay: Which one has better battles, minigames, stuff like that.
Replay Value: the most important one. Which one has a better appeal to go back and play it 5-6 more times?

Okay, a little off-topic, but how high are your graphics settings in Battlefront? If you have to keep them as low as possible, either a: get a new graphics card, or b: don't bother. My battlefront graphics are as low as possible, and in KotOR 2's lowest settings, my game's framerate was about 1fp2m (One frame per Two minutes).

i can get my battlefront settings with everything on the highest and lightbloom and not really see any drop in framerate, so I'm not too worried.

from what I heard at sch... sch... the place where we learn (can't say it during the summer), KotOR 2 is better.

Kotor 1 has a better story line, and I played it again and again, while Kotor 2 has better gameplay. Get KOTOR 1 first, then Get KOTOR 2.

Definetly get KotOR 1 first, 2 will make little sense without it.

I got KOTOR2 first, and what Caleb said is right. 2 is insanely confusing without knowing 1's story. So, yeah, get KOTOR1 if you don't get both.

Agreed. Knights 1 is a much better (and more coherent) storyline, but they tweaked a lot of the actual gameplay for 2 (mostly just adding expanded content in terms of item, skill, or battle options). KotOR 1 is a "must have" game, while KotOR 2 is "just" a really good game.

1 first, definatly. Better story, more depth, though KotOR 2 is awesomely awesome too.

Though if you only get one of them, get KotOR 1.

I've only played the very beginning of each one, and I think they both do... I think it's KotOR 2 you're thinking of, I managed to at least get past the Endar Spire in KotOR 1.

Me'thinks that I should be getting KotOR 1.

There's a mod called "Skip Peragus" that lest you skip through that part of the game. It also gives you a lightsaber and robe in the beginning of the game (which kinda sucks IMO... but it's your call.) You can probably also just warp out of there but that'll screw up your journal, quests and many other planet-specific-event-triggering-conditions (hehe).

Personally I kinda liked Peragus, it really had that abandoned mining facility feel to it. I watched every single hologram on that level, they explain a lot about what happened there.

I guess I'm the underdog here, but I like KotOR 2 much better. I never thought ol' Steeljaw was that great of a sith villain in K1.

Wow, how did I not know that? I never heard you talk about it, that I can remember...

Yeah I've beat both of em. Great games, but for me it's a 'beat the game and don't play it again for 6 months' type of game. When TSLRP comes out that'll be a different story though. I'm anxious to see if it'll run on my Xbox.

There's a KotOR1 restoration project too you know, with actually quite some things restored, new areas too (Tatooine Temple, deeper down into Kashyyyk woods).
The only problem I have with it is that they also "restore" mere concepts that don't even have files to recover, like Sleyheron that was cut before it was made. Their ideas for it are spectacular though.

Anyway I can't wait for TSLRP, theres gonna be such a lot of new things

Yep, I know the feeling. Can't play through too many RPGs soon after another, which is why every time I think about starting up K2 I tell myself, "just wait until TSLRP comes out."

Alrighty, sorry Tean', I ordered KotOR 1 off of Amazon . This can either be locked, or (if there's not another one) turned into just a KotOR discussion thread.
