The rockface is something I should have thought of long ago. Thank you! As for the trees and backdrop, that's definately a no. The object count is already dangerously high, and besides, the texture mostly conveys the impression of distant plants and trees....I just need it to be less repetitive.

The sky looks okay, right?

Woner is right, the single texture thing doesn't look good. Also, try adding some more realistic and authentic Kashyyk textures to those mountains, then it will look better. Also, you can still add trees without it adding to the object count, it is called foliage. You could put some trees using foliage and brush on those mountains and it will look twice as good. Also, that is one magnificent sky!

Dude! The sky looks absolutly amazing! Seriously I love it. Another thing you can do is to change the color in different areas which can create some contrast and you could vary up the lighting there. But this map looks unbeleivable amazing! Keep up the good work!

Heh, glad you like. And by the way, I've already added two more textures to those hills....and it's like the difference between night and day. I may not even need foliage, but we'll see (they are quite far off, and I don't think foliage shows up at a great distance - am I wrong?).

Thanks for bearing with me. Quite a large undertaking for a first map, right? XD

Nice screens! Maybe you could find a good texture for the background than it'll look much better. Hope it doesn't lag...

Mesa like! I've always loved Kashyyyk w/ custom Clone sides! The 501st would just not do! Looks like one of the best Kashyyyk maps so far! Can't WAIT to play this!!

One more thing, is that UT-AT going to be playable? And are there going to be AT-TEs or IF-TXs? (sorry if that's not the name of the Clone tank).

Hopefully I'm on the right track here:

Whadayathink? I couldn't find a decent rock texture with the right brownish color from the movie, so I went with a polis massa one, at least for now. I also found another lush jungle-ish texture to blend with the default one.

Hmmm... you know the sky doesn't really look "Kashyyykish" to me. I've had to play it with fog or dark clouds. Maybe this will be different...

I'll be sure to beta test it if you need it!

Hooray the map still lives! If the sky was a bit darker it would be fine. Will there be a big landed republic cruiser at the back of the map like in the film? If you need beta testers I can test  .

That looks so much better! I did notice though, that the sun is behind them, so you could use either lighting, or color (in this case darkening) to your advantage. But, really good work dude!

LOLzorz, optical illusion. It looks like the mountains are floating and the tree stumps are behind the base of them.

True. Remember seeing this before I actually got BF2 for PC (had it on PS2 initially). Anyeay great to see its still going. Only complaint is that those mountains look a bit tall and the texture still aint the greatest. Other than that fantastic looking map.

@woner: I had the same thought. Preliminary experiments had the ground extremely bright though, so I'll have to experiment.

@Skyhammer: Yeah, it still isn't great. I still am looking for more textures and advice to make it better. I think outlining the separate hills will help define them more, and I'm searching for yet another texture to blend with the "jungle" theme. And truth be told, most of the actual texture work started....last week. xD It's been mostly object placement, bot routing, and sides this whole time (I am less than 50 away from the object cap). As far as their height, the hills in Kashyyyk were massive. Sometime down the road I'll post some comparison and scale screens from the movie. In fact, I had to scale down the trees and hills quite a bit from the actual scale found in the movie (to make the map playable and fun).

As for the fog, I might experiment with the sky file. I might instead try to add it in separately as an effect, but I fear that this and foliage will add strain onto a map which may already cause lag.

At any rate, I'll be leaving very soon for my vacation, so for the next two and a half weeks or so, expect no progress or updates. Thanks for all the feedback and I'll see you all soon!

Oh no, I wasn't thinking lighter, I was thinking darker by one or two shades. As for another texture, you could check some of the Naboo plains or Kashyykk island textures in the BF1 assets.
