This might be a really stupid question but i couldn't find an answer.
How do you change a units name, i am trying to change all the republic troops names and change the name of the medic i added in, so it is not numbers and letter.
Thanks.

Go into the entity tree open the side that the unit is from, then change its name from there.

Where do i go in there to find where the republic troops names are, i want to change the names for when i spawn.
Also how do i keep using a map instead of having to make an new one after changing it about 5 times, i want to use a map for testing skins etc.

1. In the Editlocalize.bat, go into entity->rep->[unit's odf name]. The odf names are without the "rep_" in front of it. (like rep_inf_ep3_rifleman, would be inf_ep3_rifleman). If the unit's odf name isn' there, go to step 2, if it is there, skip to step 3
2. Right click on "rep" (no quotes) and select "add key" (again, no quotes, obviously). then name it whatever the soldier's odf name is (don't forget that it is without the "rep_"!) Then type in the box what you want the soldier's name is.
3. Then select the next language from the drop-down menu below the box where you typed the name, and a new box should form under it, type the soldier's name in there too (use a translator if you like), then do the same with the next language and the next, et cetera. This makes it so all languages get the new trooper name, not just yours.
4. Save the language files, (it will take a while, and the program will cease to respond, but wait about 1-2 minutes) munge common and localize. Then run the map!
As for your second question:
You don't have to make a new one every time you change skins, just replace the .tga in the side's msh folder with your new one. Make sure it has the same name,
OR if it has a new name hex edit the msh file and change the name there, but
the new name has to be the same number of characters as the old one, or it won't work.
Munge common and your side, and you're done!

Thanks, and i know i don't have to make a new map every time i change a skin, just after i do a change about 5 or 6 times it stops adding the changes to the game.

Hmmm.... did you try cleaning then munging, if so, then I suggest copying the side over again from the assets again.

that
might do it. (key word =
might)

Hehe, Localize is quite sticky sometimes. I remember last time I did it, it worked after I deleted the map folder in the Game's Addon folder, cleaned and munged again.
