Just out of interest what maps have you decided to use for filming, will it be just stock maps or the odd custom map as well. If your thinking of adding a few custom maps in to the mix, I'd like to offer one of mine if you are interested. Only if you think it's appropriate to the story's narrative though.

Look. Figure how many little kids go on You Tube. A good amount of them look up Star Wars, namely TCW. If they happen to find this, and their parents complain to Star Wars, we're dead meat. (Sorry for the constant roll-eyes, it's frustrating to know Dr. Hax and George Lucas are constantly monitoring us. Halo machinimas are less copyright infringing, since Microsoft sees no problem. If RvB was Star Wars Battlefront, Rooster Teeth would be called Sued Teeth.) Anyways, excuse my microphone quality when voicing, it might sound like an eight year old sucking helium. It's an eight dollar mic. Any characters that you've made up?

Why would they be watching us? They allow Complete Score edits of the films to be shown on YouTube, as well as gameplay videos and walkthroughs on YouTube too. Is this really any different?

If their parents are smart, not many go on the internet at all by themselves.
They could also look up Super Mario Brothers and stumble across Dumba** Mario, or Super Smash Brothers Brawl and find "Brawl Taunts."

Look up "Fair Use," I'm pretty sure this falls under this (though, more experienced members should probably correct me if I'm wrong).
While you're at it, look up "Machinima" or maybe just head on over to Machinima.com. If what we're doing is "wrong," then how is what they are doing "right?"

Point is, we're not making any profit from this, and worst comes to worst, we'll take it down if they ask us to stop. The only successful Machinima for BFII was "A Clone Apart" and it took a hard hit when Viacom sued YouTube. But Viacom lost: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/06/2 ... 23256.html
So "A Clone Apart" IS able to continue, they just lost interest or something.

Couldn't have put it better myself, man.

As for ACA, I think they did lose interest. They were probably fed up with Viacom being dumb and after awhile, they probably just gave up and said, "Meh. Not worth it anymore". It's a shame really, because ACA was one of my favorite machinima series out there.

To be honest, I think we should give them a nod somewhere. Show them appreciation for making a great series even though it was like, what....3 episodes? 4? 4...yeah. But anyways, our machinima will fall under 'fair use', because this will be a 'no profit' series. No money what-so-ever will be gained out of this. I'm not even going to consider a donations tab. Because in my mind, that's still trying to 'make profit' off of people. And it's probably not a good idea anyways, as a lot of the music is probably going to be recognizable.

And as said, if worse comes to worse, we'll take it down if law budges in and cramps everyone's day with 'this can't be done' or 'that's violating this'. We won't be happy about it, but we'll comply.

As for any vulgarity, that's why we also plan on giving it an age rating, so that technically, parents can't do Bantha poodoo about it if their 6 or 7 year old child stumbles upon it and hears a 'naughty word'. Also, this is why I'm making two versions of each episode - censored (dropping it down to 'PG-13' 'TV-14' at the least - beeps are involved. Heck, it might even make it funny) and uncensored ('R' or 'TV-MA'). There will be a forewarning on each episode before the credits specifically stating that we warned them and if they chose to continue, they're at fault and not us. I'm trying to please a wide-range of people in terms of both legality and ....vulgar/non-vulgar language so that a wide-range of people can enjoy it. I'm all for trying to respect people's ears, so that's why I'm making two versions.

If they don't enjoy it, well, sorry...can't please everyone, but we're just going to go on and if it's not someone's cup of tea, they can just move on.

I know I seem a little harsh with some of the things I said, but if some people just can't 'handle' it, I can't really help them there. I hope people can understand. I'm not trying to get on anyone's bad side here. I'm just simply stating that if someone either doesn't like it because of crude humor.....or something else, I just cannot simply help them and they'll just have to go on and search for something else to watch.

As for anyone who hears the 'd' word and the 'h' word, that's used in the Star Wars movies all too often (not an excessive amount, but it was there), so there's no real news there. It's almost guaranteed that those words will be in there multiple times.

But this isn't the thread to discuss law and vulgarity. This is to discuss what this thing is going to be about.

I'm no lawyer, so people can correct me on this, but I respect law. I intend on keeping as close to respecting it completely as possible while going through this series.

@CommanderFixer- We've already got two characters so far. Since this is going to be a GT series, it's a safe bet we're going to slightly modify our forum names a little. More info on that later.

@Jendo7- Regarding custom maps. For now.... stock ones. We're most likely going to move into custom maps later. :)

@Everyone- A public brief outline will be available as soon as I get one written.

After reading some more of what you guys are saying, I might consider helping more with this. Sort of depends on what our focus is, though. If it's going to be a ultra-serious story then I think I'll stick with my "might help here and there" position. If it's going to be a little more light-hearted and random (think Idiots of GMod), then I think I will help more.

If you want to contact me, you can by adding me through Steam or by PM here. I also have XFire and Skype, but I rarely use XFire and would rather not use Skype.

Oh, and I wouldn't worry about copyright or anything. I don't know anything about A Clone Apart or LucasArts, but usually Machinima is fine.

I have some experience in Machinima-ing (I filmed a pilot for an SWBF2 series once, but it was never released and the project was ultimately scrapped), so I might be able to help in some way.

If you require any help with anything, feel free to contact me on Xfire, Steam, or send a forum PM.

Also, perhaps it would be a good idea to assemble a Skype meeting or something to discuss plot, characters, etc.

You helped DPpictures with SWBF2 Randomness and Muscal Madness I and II correct? You are THE Yoda the Froggy?! :D I am quite honored to meet your acquaintance. As far as meetings go, I'll try to schedule something for a convenient time for people.

Don't worry, this is going to be the most seriousizzzles thing ever. :P But in all seriousness, it's gonna be comedy. Don't worry. ;) Light-heartedness and randomness will make it in....at least the randomness anyways. ....randomness with a story. Hmm, can that actually be accomplished? *starts typing up a theory that doesn't make sense.*

If you take a look at what A Clone Apart has, they have minor language, but any vulgarity is replaced with a *beep*. That, I think, would be funnier than having the words uncensored.

But language shouldn't be our main focus of the machinima (obviously >.>)

I think I might get to work on a basic story...but by all means you should come up with an idea first, Revan.

Ya know, I think beeping would actually be funnier. Good point. And yeah, I know language isn't going to be the main focus, I was just taking precautions, because that was probably going to be a concern for a lot of people.

As for a basic story, Twilight_Warrior and I already have some stuff going. We just need to finalize a few things. I'll give people a little taste with a small tidbit of what basically happens without giving away what actually will 'go on' in the episodes. Here's a basic outline of what we're going for.
Hidden/Spoiler:
During the First Battle of Geonosis, a group of GT operatives were tasked with securing an enemy command bunker. After failing their task epically, command sends them to an undisclosed location for a 'special assignment'.
So far, it's really basic for describing it, but I think if it's done right, it could be good. As far as actual script goes, still working on getting that bit done for the first few episodes.

I would have liked to perform as a voice actor, but a Guinea Pig ate my mic wire. If you wouldn't mind, though, I can perform as an ingame actor. You know, moving the character around and whatnot? I did that a lot for Cerfon, I think it was. We were doing a short film with the final battles of Force Unleashed.

Sure. You can be an in-game actor. :) And maybe later down the line if you get a new mic or something, you can shift into voice acting if ya really want it.

For now, I'll give the voice acting part to another friend, Superphrog2000, since he can't do in-game acting cause he doesn't own the game. Somewhat of a win-win scenario, I suppose if you look at it from a certain point of view. :)

I'll help if you need another person but the sessions would have to be late EST (8:00<x)
However I could not voice act.

That's fine. Any position you fill that's an in-game 'puppet' and if that happens to be a puppet who needs a voice actor, I can easily grab a voice actor for that part. :)

Eh, that seems like a decent plot. But by GT, do you mean Gametoast? Kinda sounds like advertising the site a bit to me.
