I'd like to make some changes to game play but I can't figure out how to do it without messing up mods I currently have in the game. The only way I can figure how to do it is to edit certain LVL files.
I found a LVL extractor mod, but I can't get the thing to work
Is there a way to edit LVL files?

There is no known way to legally edit and/or extract any contents in a LVL file, other than textures and scripts, which is all the LVL Extractor can do. And even if there were, most authors wouldn't want their stuff mucked with anyways.

I was only going to change my own mods. I would never change anything to someone elses work without their permission

I see. So I take it you don't have the source files to these mods? Because if you do have them, there is no need to edit the packed LVL files.

No I don't have the files for them and I want to avoid having to recreate them.
Sorry call me lazy

Oh, alright then. What all are you trying to edit? You can make some ODF changes for sides in your mission scripts, but as far as I know, there is no way to make changes to anything else.

Re: Is there a way to edit LVL files?
I just want to tweak weapon damage and unit health for the overall game. But in order to do that I would have to remake mission and all side lvl.files. Which will cause me to lose the changes made to unit appearance. Such as using certain troopers for certain maps.
I admit some of the changes are not my work but i was given permission to edit them, but to do so is a bit beyond my knowledge.
I was hoping to just edit the odf files already incorporated in the lvl.files
