Hex-editing jetpack to units

Post by hunting shadow »

Today I downloaded Deviss-Rex Episode 3 Trooper with jetpack. I wanted to edit jetpacks to my units, too, so I tried it. The jetpack works good, but the skinn of it is the same skin as the unit's. How can I get the jetpack skin working?

By the way, download the moddle of Deviss, if you have not already, it's very good:

well simple, did you change the MATI (reference Material) of the jetpack?? did you add 1 more to MATL for example have 1 now have 2

I added 1 to the Matl (I use the rep_ep3_sniper, so I think with the jetpack it must be 405 instead of 404) But It still didn't work. Can you tell me what number i have to add to hedr and msh2 for the material?
And what have I to do with MATI?

Tried again, this time with the normal trooper, and i got it working, even with a cape. Perhaps the sniper doesn't work because he has got his bag?

The MATI number (in the new MODL chunk) has to match the position number of the (new) MATD chunk. If you added your new MATD chunk at the end of the MATL section (after all the other MATDs), your new MATI number (the longint immediately after the 4-byte longint stating the size of the MATI chunk) will be equal to the number of MATD chunks minus 1.

well these are the steps:
1° past the jetpack's MODL chunk
2° rezise the HEDR and MSH2
3° paste the jetpack's MATD
4° add 1 MATD to MATL zise, example: MATL 00000 02 000 MATD TO MTAL 000000 03 MATD .....
5° rezise the HEDR and MSH2 again
6° modify the jetpack's MATI from jetpack's MODL chunk to your new image, for example if the jetpack's materia is the 6° MATD so you must modify MATI 000000 0X TO MATI 000000 06

Yeah, i figured this out just before I read it. Thank you for your help.

I think I'll spend the next days on hexediting jetpacks and capes to my units. I changed the screenshot at the beginning, so you can look at the result of your help.
