It seems development for 0 A.D. has been opened to the public. The game is a free, open source RTS like the Age of Empires series. I considered leaving SWBF2 and joining their development team for the Summer, but their application wanted people who would have more stable long term development time. I didn't have a clue how much free time I'd have next school year. Because of that, I stuck with SWBF2. If I had known they were going to open up development to everyone, I would have left. Oh well. Now I have my sights set on a map I may or may not complete...

I think 0 A.D. will be an excellent game when completed. Right now it is at a pre-alpha stage.

Whoa, that looks awesome, I had no idea about these open-source games! Are there games from any other genres? I wish I had the know-how to help with this, but I'm just not into that kind of thing.

There are open source games for every genre. I think there are more open FPS games then anything else. However, it seems programmers are more willing to spend their time creating open source stuff then artists. Most open games don't have as good artwork as 0 A.D. Just search around online and on wikipedia.

Hm.. Looks like a mix between the AoE series and the Total War series...

Looks cool. Any news on a release date/download link?
