it is funnier without Garfield. I always hated Garfield comics. So repetitive.

I love Garfield, but this is pretty dang hilarious as well. XD

Though as long as we're going this, I'm pretty sure this one is more depressing:

But Calvin lacks Jon's angst.

This is true. I guess Calvin Without Hobbes is simply how everyone else sees Calvin, as opposed to Jon being a lonely borderline-crazy depressed guy.

In fact, there was implied suicide in one strip.

Jon said "I think I'll go out and shoot myself."

Wow.

That's kinda more depressing than Garfield Minus Garfield.
Calvin must have been quite the trouble maker that day.

Image Nothing. His comic lacks the schizo-depressive angst of Garfield minus Garfield.

Well, at times.

I guess.

Still. Hands down, Calvin and Hobbes is the greatest comic series ever. It was philosophy, it had humor, it has life lessons, plopped into one, well illustrated package.

Next up is the far side. Lol.

The Calvin and Hobbes one kinda broke my heart (I had a moment). I think we should all see Hobbes as Calvin does.

I can see where you're coming from, but the change in tone isn't as drastic as GMG.

True, though I think that's just because Calvin's a little kid, at an age where it's normal (or at least, not unusual) to have an imagination like that, particularly with his stuffed animal, and seeing things as they are instead of how he sees them is basically just a change of perspective, whereas John appears to be a grown man who suffers from depression, anxiety, possibly schizophrenia, and any number of metal disorders, with no one in his life to support him, instead of just being stupid, as we see with Garfield in the picture. So yeah, the change isn't as drastic.

Though I agree with MrCrayon, Calvin & Hobbes FTW! Not gonna lie, the last C&H strips makes me wanna tear up every time I see it.
