Flamethrower Troubles
I tried giving one of my units a flamethrower. I copied and pasted the CIS flamethrower into my side's folder. I edited the anims so it would use the underhand chaingun anims, and changed the mesh to use the underhand chaingun. Then I increased the cone length and gave it a longer effect for firing. I did not mess with any damage values.
In-game if kills instantly. No gradual damage, no smolder - one measly lick of flame, and any victim keels over dead (except for a droideka. A droideka's health goes down like it's supposed to, though without any smolder.)
I tried over and over to fix it, to no avail. I re-pasted it and only changed the anims and msh, didn't even mess with the cone length or ordance files at all. Same effect.
Why?

Re: The Enthusiastic Flamethrower
The stock damage scale? That's what I'm using.
And, just now on the thirtieth remunged, the problem seems to have been resolved; though for future reference I'd still like to pin down what was the issue.

Re: The Enthusiastic Flamethrower
It is possible that you messed up the smolder somehow. That is the only difference between the droideka and the clones. Smolder damage got beefed up and you can't smolder a droideka, apparently.

Re: The Enthusiastic Flamethrower
I tried making another one - same thing happened! And I didn't even touch the ordance file. Trying a clean/remunge as we speak/post.
EDIT - Yep, that fixed it.
Is there some...random....poltergiest-type activity in my hard drive? Does anyone else have this problem with flamethrowers in particular?

Re: The Enthusiastic Flamethrower
I've got another problem with it: I changed the smolder effect (effect only, mind you) to the stock poisoned effect (the one you get upon being poisoned). In-game both effects play at once and there's no smolder damage dealt at all. What's wrong with it?

Re: Flamethrower Troubles
SWBFII does have some kind of memory thing built in. If you make a server on a mod map that someone else doesn't have, it usually won't let them join even if you switch maps. You have to restart the server.
But that's getting too deep into computer mythology, so I think the actual problem is that you didn't change ALL of the smolder effects. (there are three...)

Re: Flamethrower Troubles
I changed all three. What does online hosting have to do with it?
