I'm working on a map, and I put in my own objects and textures. When I run bf, it crashes...am I missing something?

Need more info.

1: Are these objects you made in XSI?
2: Do they show up in Zero Editor?
3: When you exported them did you have all the meshes selected?

Yes, these are objects i made in xsi. Yes, they do show up in Zero Editor. But I don't think I had the whole scene root selected when I exported...but I just tried it, and when I did, softimage crashed...

you dont wanna select the scene root -_- branch select dummyroot which should be the parent object to your mesh and then export, also check export textures so that your textures get copied to your MSH directory in your side folder that your exporting to.

have the WHOLE scene 'visible' in a viewport. press and hold the middle mousebutton and drag it throughover your Viewport. it'll now BRANCH Select everything - and it won't crash

open the explorer and expand some of your objects and take a screen shot so i can see what it looks like.

PS: Qdin, I didn't entirely comprehend what you were saying. I couldn't branch select everything, if that's what was supposed to happen...

just branch select dummyroot with the center mouse button and export and thats it.

mini' in case your computer don't crash when BRANCH Selecting and exporting the DummyRoot, mine does - and it seems like Dast's does too... :?

First of all, Dast - when you BRANCH Select, does your mouse 'click' once or can you drag it across the window and therefore select multiple objects?

Wait...I don't think you get it...when I exported the whole scene, it crashed, when I exported the dummyroot, it worked...it's just when I ran the map on battlefront, it crashed...

PS: the mouse 'clicks'

PPS: Do I have to append a LOD mesh to my ordinary meshes?

PPPS: Yes, it does run without the mesh

Uhm. is the object one whole thing? (everything's merged together)

it can be multiple meshes just as long as theyre all in the right hierarchy, dont export the whole scene, slap whoever told you to do that for me. the map crashing MIGHT be something else but im not sure.

What version of xsi are you using?

I'm using xsi softimage 5.0 foundation trial. But nobody answered my question: do I need to have:

-a LOD mesh
-a lowrez texture
-an option file for my texture

no none of that is required for an object to work, without a lowrez all thatll happen is your object will become invisible at a certain distance rather than the lowrez being rendered and ive never had to use an option file for anything.

Has any1else gotten models to work with xsi foundation 5.0 trial ? I know it worked for the 4.2 trial but not sure for 5.0.
