I want it, and my friend who's getting it is coming over on Tuesday with it and MW2 to convince my mom that they're not as M-rated as GTA. So I hope it works, lol, cuz it looks really good.

Played through it and I have to say, I am very impressed. They fixed up all the faults from the first game and also added new features. This game is incredible, love it more than the first one.
Hidden/Spoiler:
I love how Altair makes an appearance and his armour is also achievable.

I agree with the above,
I love this game! (Played for 13 hours the day I got it xD)
Not finished yet, though my post here is wasting the time which I could be playing it
Finally, You know those people who carry a sweeping brush? if you knock them down they drop it, after doing this, switch your weapon to fists, and it lets you use the brush as a weapon (similar moves to those of a mace!)
enjoy.

How's the combat in this one? Still based on just counters?
Sure there are new toys (weapons) to play with but I was really frustrated with the combat in AC1.

Combat is relatively the same but due to different guard classes it can be tricky. You can easily counter the 'grunts' but with the 'brutes' and I'm not sure what the other ones are called, you have to wear them down. I think the combat system has been amped from the last one because it feels different.

You will be frustrated again. Its the nearly same Combat System than in AC1.
But its way better to handle.Weapon Changing, Now, is also easy due to a One Button/Stick Control.Upgrading your Armor and different Colors of it is also a nice Feature.
Im a Pro in AC1 and loved the First Game much but AC2 is really 100 times better. You have Factions, that you can hire,Smoke Bombs,a Pistol and you can swim. This makes the gameplay much better than AC1 also All of the the Assassination Missions are packed into nice Missions like Carnival in Venice or Beeing the first Man how can fly ,sometimes you need to coop with some other Thieves to reach a Goal.
You wil be again forced to reach Observation Points but its not that much than in the first Game besides of that its also sometimes packed into Missions.
I personally love the Assassine Grave Missions .These Missions ever prove your learned skills in Combat,Astuteness and being able to handle Timebased Speed Runs without doing any Faults.
The Locations that you will visit are much more detailed than in AC1.AC1 was way detailed ,too and its a pleasure to visit Venice and Forli.
AC2 is awesome and actually im totally addicted to play it as often as possible.Best Game in 2009 besides of Uncharted 2.
@ DeathRow:
I play since 4 Days AC2. I am in DNA Sequence 9.In a Level called Biancas Man.Its located in Venice + i have also beaten Asenale Shipyard Bonus Map) and sure i played more than 15 Hours.
You have beaten SP Mode so fast? You played AC2 in a fast playthrough?
Its so complexe. How did you do that? Are you playing Playing 24 Hours a day
My actual Trophy/Archivement Count is 72% :

Haha, nah.. I haven't completed it yet. Only just finished the Carnivale part in Venice. I have been doing all the side missions (assassinations, races etc) and all the Assassin Tombs for that special secret . I hate to play Assassin's Creed fast so I always take it nice and easy doing whatever missions come along.
Ah, I see where you may have been mistaken. When I said I played through it I didn't finish it, just had a play xD.

I really do love this game. Haven't finished it yet, but so far I'm very intrigued by the story, maybe even more so than the first game. The way they constantly refer to Altair and his deeds makes me want to play the first one over again though.
I love poisoning people too. It's hilarious to watch them swing and attack nothing.

@xII DM IIx
Later in Game you will have so much money, that it will be wasted for Ezio`s Sister (or you have more than 300.000 f in your Case.
@Death Row:
Yesterday i have beaten the Main Game.
Now i need to collect the last Glyphs.I actually found 12/20 and then need to beat them. Some of them are very hard. Besides of that i need to search for the last missing Feathers, which will be like 50.Then i would get the Platinum Trophy.
Im not sure how far your progress now is in beaten the AC2.
But actually i miss One of the Weapons. If i check my Book in the Villa or my Inventar, i can see that i have 21/22 Weapon.
So you know how to get the last Weapon?
or did i missed to buy it, in one of the Weapon Shops in One of the Countrys?
+
What does happen,if all Glyphs have been decrypted?

Just pre-ordered the PC version. The first one was great, and it looks like the new game has been improved substantially.
I've been to Venice, Rome and Florence so it will be interesting to see how accurate the game is. The detail in the first game was amazing.

The Detail and Accuracy is amazing. But dont hope to see much of Rome. You will visit it but its not so,that you will explore it like Venice,Forli or Florence.
That what you see of Rome is pretty awesome.Ac2 is way better then AC1,which i still also love.

Spoilers follow.
Hidden/Spoiler:
Some would find it interesting to note that there are some secret codes in the pictures that "Subject 16" put into the Animus. I found three so far, and I wrote them down. The first is in hexadecimal (haven't decoded yet), the second references a text of some sort, probably book cipher (undecoded, I don't know what the text may be), and the last is in binary, which spells out "Sumerian. Me 23."
EDIT: According to Gamespot, The Hex code says: "Antikythera Mechanism, much older than 150 B.C.E." and the last one is actually decimal, reading: "Ancient city, Rajasthan, India, irradiated by PoE" Apparently there are many more in a variety of different ciphers.
