Re: Gimp 2 - Finding soilders
Search the files in the side folder and open all necassary TGAs with gimp. When it's done than save the TGA without rle-compressionsoccersw2 wrote:Hey GT! I am currently trying to figure out how to work GIMP 2 software and am trying to find and edit some files. I currently have BF2 ModTools and am trying to find out how to find and edit the following files or pictures to edit...
- Clones
- CIS
- Rebel Soilders
- Empire Storm Troopers
- Turrents
- Guns (that soilders handle)
- Snowspeeders, speeder, and any other thing you can ride
- All Space Ships
- And really anything else
So that is pretty much everything. I am mostly focused on the men or troops or soilders or anything else you want to call them, and their guns, gernades, and anything else they hold. SO PLEASE POST a tutorial of how to FIND AND EDIT those files. THANKS FOR ANSWERING THE NOOB QUESTION!

yes, those are the files, and yes copy them to data_***\Sides
you need all of the files, odf's msh's req's and whatnot to make a working custom side
and make sure to also copy the COMMON side
then find your lua at data_***\Common\Scripts\***\
open in notepad and scroll down to thefor any faction that you copy and change the line toto use the custom sides
munge the common check box and all sides in the drop down

Yes, that is where you find them. To put them ingame, click forums/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=13757 and scroll down a ways. There is a good tutorial.

Re: Gimp 2 - Finding soilders
To put them in-game, you'll need to set up a custom side in your Data***/sides folder. Check out the Jedi Creation.doc to learn how to set up a custom side, just skip the Jedi-dealing parts (lightsabers, combo files, etc.) as that will only serve to confuse you. Also, to edit a shipped soldier/whatever, copy their ODF files into your side's odf folder, reqs into req folder, etc., and don't forget to add them to your side's req file, outside the req folder!
Also, check out this thread. It's pure gold.
