Re: Maps Name??
The initial way you did it was most likely correct. The problem is with the game's exe. Have you patched to v1.1? If so, did you use the correct v1.1 patch? Not using the correct patch or using v1.0 will case exactly the problem you describe.

Re: Maps Name??
I have the exact same same problem. I have the DVD version as well, so I just install the game, backup the .exe, install 1.1 + 1.3 patch and then I replace the .exe. If I don't do this, my game can't start because the game is asking for a correct disk...

Re: Maps Name??
There is at least one official v1.1 exe without the CD/DVD check. It's 4.4MB if you can find it. However, you can't play the game after installing the v1.1 patch, then you're installing the wrong v1.1 patch.

Re: Maps Name??
No, that's what I've already tried.
EDIT:
I just had an idea; Since the problem is that the .exe doesn't read the Cd-Key, wouldn't a legal option be to hex-edit the cd-key into the exe? It would require a new edit per dvd, but that would also make sure that it can't be used as an illegal hack. ?

No. It's never legal to modify the executable.mswf wrote:wouldn't a legal option be to hex-edit the cd-key into the exe? ?

Not if someone can find the legal DVD 1.1 patch.exe that Zerted had pointed to.

Re: Maps Name??
Would that work? If so; hurray!
EDIT:
It does. Nice, I can now finally see the names of maps correctly.
