Tried following Mav's ambient music tutorial, I tried using a .wav file with 352 kbps, 16 bit, mono, 22 kHz PCM mode, copied it four times, and renamed each to music1.wav, music2.wav, etc.

Failed so I tried Phazon's settings of 48kHz, 16-bit, stereo and got the same result

Mavs tutorial doesnt work, as far as I know, so follow the tutorial Vyse made cause that works and so Ive been able to have custom music in maps

I've never had a problem with custom music. I suppose I could have mistyped something, but what I wrote is basically just an extension of Vyse's tutorial. Maybe I'll redo it sometime, since people always seem to have a problem with custom music.

And in no way do I mean to condescend, but tutorials always work best for me when I make an effort to learn how things work and why instead of just "following instructions."

I wouldn't casually dismiss it with "it doesn't work-" because clearly at least one person (me) can get it to work. While I certainly hope it is not, I'm willing to concede that it may be difficult to follow along with or even wrong on minor points, but like I said in my last post; the information is there if you extrapolate from it and don't just regurgitate it.

I will still of course look into it eventually and see if I can't make something a little easier to digest.

For one thing the order of calls seems to be backwards in Mav's...I'll need to look at Vyse's though, since I can't get custom music to work at all, using bf1 or bf2 munging. My scripts for whatever reason don't seem to like calling two sound sets at once. All of my file info is posted in a different (related) topic on here, erm, I guess on Mav's topic, "(FAQ) Tentative custom ambient music tutorial." I used bf2 munging for that configuration, and it did munge it (using Rend's soundmunge.bat), but it doesn't work.

I showed the tutorial to Phazon and he flipped out a bit, especially about the format of the .wav and the .stm file - he said he would post fixes for the tutorial soon.

Here's an error from BFront2.log
