I have too many ideas...
Here's yet another idea
Space Deathmatch (basically a mission map)
Example in CW era Playable Unit: a Jedi (obiwan, anakin, etc). Opponent: a CIS hero like grievous, dooku, Cad Bane, etc(with their respective weapons)
Hero Vehicles: Jedi Starfighter, Bellabub Starfighter or some other fighter used by a CIS hero
NPC's (possibly playble at later time): Clone Pilots, Clone Marines, B1 Battle droids, Magnaguards (custom, electrostaff only)
AI VEhicles: Self-Piloted CIS Vehicles, ARC-170s, Republic gunship
In this example, you spawn as the jedi unit, and enter your starfighter. you have to make it to the CIS ship's hangar, dodging their fighters, and landing. Your opponent is in the hangar waiting for you, and it becomes a fight to the death, the gameplay changes depending on the outcome of the duel
if you win, you now have to kill all the enemy units on the ship and capture/destroy main things like shields, engine rooms, taking out as many droids and droidfighters as possible.
if you are defeated by the opponent, or are killed afterwards, you cannot respawn again as the hero and have to spawn as a marine or pilot unit. The opponent will then join the space battle in their starfigher (if they defeat you). it becomes a regular battle (the droid fighters stop being self-piloted if that can happen), except that you have to watch for the hero as they have a better ship (better turns, boost, speed, weapons, shield), and if they get destroyed, then, victory.

The above post sounds a lot like Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith's (the movie, episode 3) intro.
I had my own idea recently. Here we go...
I was thinking, what about a transformers type mod? Pandemic made "transformers" with the droideka. Something that changes its shape to roll ( or for transformers, turns into a car ) and then back into something that walks and shoots ( in our case the robot transformer. ) If this is even remotely possible in SWBF2, I don't know... Pandemic did it with a droideka so it must be. However, a few other aspects aren't impossible. Like making explodeable prop vehicles. In the first transformers ( the only one I have seen ), near the end, there are tons of scattered cars and what not. It would be as simple as making a car .msh, givining it a destroyed .msh, and a massive explosion, and LOW HP ( one rocket shot blows it up. ) If you don't know what I mean by destroyed .msh, look at the tantive IV consoles from the stock campaign. And also the hoth campaign, when you blow up the shield generator. One other not so far fetched idea is destructable skyscrapers. You shoot at one part, that part is gone. Pandemic did it with space maps, capital ships. It wouldn't be impossible. I think you would give the sky scraper different model chunks, each with there own explosion. What might not be possible would be having the sky sky scraper fall over sideways and kill something if you shot the bottom out. What wouldn't be impossible is blowing the sky scrape up, even in one big boom. As far as weapons go, what robot wouldn't have a super cool rocket launcher, or continous laser beam?
As far as the transformers themselves and making all the models I mentioned...Not for me. Just an idea I had.

Personally if I were to look at anything in here seriously, it would be limited to the Star-Wars-related material that can be done.

Psh, that's boring.

Oh yeah, this would be totally doable.

unlimited ambushes yes, but the number of teams you can use is limited.

That wouldn't really be unlimited then!

Ambushes are just having preselected AI spawn at a certain location after an objective is completed, which is used mainly in campaigns. So you can have a campaign that goes on forever and have unlimited ambushes as long as you get all the units from teams 2-9.

This is my most complex map idea yet. I'm not sure it's even possible.
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Cato_Nei ... ridge_city
It'd be one of ^these^, but with a twist. The city would have been split in half by something. So the map would be a city, but it would be horizontal instead of vertical. There'd be a bunch of buildings, but they would be on their side. You could enter buildings, but the player would walk on the walls and the ceiling and floor would be walls. I figured the map itself would naturally lend itself to cool stuff if pulled off well. However, it would be very difficult to emulate.

I myself was thinking of doing one of these cities. However, if you want to see the flaws with this, look at the Elite Squadron map of this. To get it to look anything like the film, it would require an insane amount of work. That's why no one has done it. If you don't do the insane amount of work, it just looks sad and dissapointing. Also, if it is sideways, wouldn't all the troops fall down if they were ever outside? I might do this planet, just later on in my modding career.

I never knew Elite Squadron made a map like this. Huh.

Yeah, they did make a map of Cato Nemodia, there's a video playthrough
HERE. It just doesn't look right, or anything like the film. Now, saying that, I hear it is one of the better maps for that game.

I have a new idea. I'm planning on making a map like this, but it's a broad idea so I don't care if someone else does too. The concept would be space battles in atmosphere. So I guess they would really be air battles. Mountains would be created, or a treeline. The map would play out a lot like a regular starship battle, but the environment would be very different. I suppose this is a little similar to capital down maps, or space to land maps, but I think this would avoid pitfalls the spring up often. The goals would be the same, and combat would be the same. Everything should work out.

Capitol Strike 1
Capitol Strike 2
THEWULFMAN's failed map of similar design
It's a good idea, thus it has been done before.

hes already refered to the "capital down maps". as far as i understood hes talking about a normal spacemap without space to ground transition but within the atmosphere of a planet.(i hope im right) i think it would be cool to have some obstacles like mountains in the battlefield even tough the ai might just ram into them...

Yes he did. If you notice the links are to the Capitol
Strike maps, not the Capitol
Down maps.
In that respect I guess my failed map was closer to his idea, it was set in the mountains of a planet. It did not have a ground battle. However I tried making it when I was just beginning to mod, and it failed pretty fast. Maybe now that I can, I will remake the map.

ah, my bad. they way i remembered it, there were several capital strike maps but only one capital down map and so i assumed that he meant the "capital" map in general.(i checked on swbffiles now and saw that i was wrong)
anyway, capital down and srike are basically similar maps with a different name, right? (except that "down" has crashed capitals)
