ok well I think releasing it would be good (dont worry I still have your skins)
However you cant just save pic as becuase it has to be in .tga format to work in game
also Im free to skin something if anyone wants help. Im currently working with Chamboozer on some of his projects

Hey RDST,
Do you think you could make a species type skin, like say, the Noghri people? I'm not sure what that would involve, but if you can do it, I've got a very useful purpose for it. Here's some info:
http://www.starwars.com/databank/species/noghri/eu.html
http://www.swmud.org/gameinfo/races/noghri.htm
http://www.shatteredequinox.com/modules ... ent&tid=16
Is skinning simply a matter of creating your own art and putting it into the default skins of characters? If so I might try it myself.

^thats out of skinning you would need to create a new model for the creature. the skin could be done however the ability to make it look like that requires a modeler. skinning can only change the apperance of a model not create a new model. Pics of my latest skin (about 50% done)
skinning is very easy you just need bfbuilder and a current version of photoshop (v.6 and up) If you want more info just PM

for him to do that it'd need a new model, a skin texture is not a shape, its what that shape looks like, MSHs are shapes.

Quick question:
When I want to use a new skin, can I just replace the default skin with the new one and name it the same? Or do I have to (ugh) create a new side?

add a line in the odf caled OverrideTexture

You can replace it or use chamboozer's method. If you are adding a new unit from an existing, the OverrideTexture would be a more organized way to handle it. Choose what ever floats your boat.

Well if I want to use the skins shown here, for example, do I just replace the defaults with these, or do I need to add a line in the odf? If I need to do the latter, what's the correct format for adding the line, can you show an example?

add a line in the odf above the line that says CAMERASECTION called OverrideTexture. in the end it will look something like this:
OverrideTexture = "whatever your texture's name is"
CAMERASECTION = "STAND"
