black borders around edges of monitor

So I have a really hold box-shaped monitor. I bumped some button (yeah I know...) and now there are black borders around the edges of my screen. Not really a problem, but it is annoying. How would I make my monitor go back to full screen? Thanks!

There should be a button on your monitor that opens a menu where you can fix that. What is the make and model of your monitor?

What I would do? Play with all the buttons until something happens. I mean, so long as none of the buttons are self-destruct activators, all you have to do is go through the menus and see what each thing does.

I dont know the make and model of my monitor but it says viewsonic on the front of it.
EDIT: Device manager just says generic pnp monitor. Great. What would I most likely have to edit to get it to work? Or is every monitor different in terms of the menus.
Hi.

Right click your desktop, go to graphics options or screen resolution. Adjust your screen size until it fits your monitor.

If it's a "boat anchor" (big box monitor) give it a little bump. If it's an LCD about the only thing you can do is check and make sure all your connections are tight.

Yeah, just a bump on the top of it. Not hard or anything, just a few soft pops on the top of it. If something actually jarred loose inside the screen will go crazy.

Yeah, that'd be the degauss button. It basically clears out excess magnetism in the monitor.

Of course it's supposed to be there, why would someone design a CRT with a degauss button if there wasn't a purpose to it?

No, not the button, the black border around the edge

Ooooooh.... That post could have been clearer.
Well, if the program's aspect ratio isn't the same as the monitor, there's 2 options, warped image, or black edging on the sides or top. Sometimes monitors have a setting for this, sometimes the graphics card does.

Right, I will fiddle with the settings and see. I could look into my video card and see, thanks for the tip! Edited previous post.

Hmm, would you mind posting an image (probably using a digital camera since a screenshot would likely not capture it) of these mysterious black borders?

I'm a month and a half late, but the black borders are probably caused by the OSD size. Fiddle with the buttons (one should bring up a menu with a bunch of pictures on it). Fiddle with the other buttons to figure out which one will navigate to the other pictures. and look for one that is a square/rectangle with an arrowed line pointing up and down/right and left (there should be two seperate ones). Select it with the select button (once again, play with the ones there, it should be the last one left, assuming you have 4 buttons (not including power)). Then use the navigation buttons to change the size of the screen.
I hope that is clear enough, I get the feeling that I wasn't very clear in my explanation.
EDIT
The chart towards the bottom of
this article might be of use (though your monitor is not HP, it should have similar symbols) Look for Horizontal Size and Vertical Size (Not OSD as I said before, I was wrong)

Thank you for reply. I actually have gotten used to the black edges around the edge of the monitor but I will try your solution(s) and see if I can get anything to work. It really isnt that big of a deal, its just a very minor irritant that it isnt displaying in fullscreen.
