Custom award weapons not being unlocked?

I made some custom award weapons and did everything right (as I think),
I made all necessary odfs (rep and com), all msh`s used are referenced in them
I added them into the units rep_default odfs as well
And I made sure that the odfs had
ScoreForMedalsType = 0
MedalsTypeToLock = 0
(^ This is the pistol`s rep odf)
and
MedalsTypeToUnlock = 0
ScoreForMedalsType = 0
(^ This is the pistol`s com odf)
I don`t know if the name is important but for the pistol, both the standard version and the award version have the same name, just "inf" and "award" is the only difference between them.
However I can`t unlock them, no matter how many kills I get, I never unlock them.
I remember I used to be able to unlock my custom award rifle, but recently I changed it`s name slightly and it doesn`t work anymore. If the names have to be the same then why does the pistol not work either?
Anyone know why this may be happening?
