Having problems with camera positioning

Post by Samee3 »

In this post: viewtopic.php?f=27&t=32315#p525543 I shared working odf code for the LA-AT rear gun and chin guns. However, I also noted that I was having some problems with getting the cameras positioned correctly.

So, how best to describe the problem?
Let's take the rear gunner position for example. If you add the code and run it, you will notice in-game, that the camera is indeed in the correct position, just above the gun barrel. However, the issue becomes more apparent when you start looking around. It's hard to describe, but it feels like the camera is attached to the end of a long stick, the other end of which is attached to the origin of the ship. The problem I run into is that the pivot point seems to be the end of the 'stick' attached to the origin of the ship, when it should feel like it is attached just below the camera itself. Are we still on the same page here? Think of it as the difference between wearing a helmet camera, and holding a camera in your hand, with your arm extended, and moving only at the shoulder. Did I just confuse you more?
I did mention that it is rather difficult to describe. The best way to get the feel for it is to try it.

I used the appropriate section from Psych0fred's commented AAT as reference, and I feel like I have tried just about every possible combination of EyePointOffset, TrackCenter, and TrackOffset, to no avail. :faint:

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Sam
