I believe Maveritchell did it in one of his Dark Times II maps (I think it was Mon Calamari: Space), so it is possible. I don't know exactly how he did it though.

I'd love to see that done. Players would have to choose to defend their internal or external systems making the gameplay a hell of a lot more interesting. AI Marines would actually be useful for once, no longer needing to be placed in the enemy hanger by the player.

Yeah, it'd be awesome to see in a really massive space battleGlitch25 wrote:I'd love to see that done. I'm fairly certain (but don't quote me on this) that Mav did the flyers using predetermined animation paths, as in- the AI don't actually fly the ship and land it. In essence it's an animated prop/vehicle, and you use the lua to set it up so that the animation only begins once the vehicle is full.

If that's the case, then it sounds more simple than I thought it would.

You would also have to have the ship in the flight mode via lua also (I think there is a command for that but I can't remember because the last time I really modded was in october) or else if it was a command flyer/flyer with takeoff animation/any other flyer then people could spawn at it and fall out into space, people could just jump out, and in cases like the imperial troop transport it would still be in landing mode.

I think it could actually be simpler than we're making it. I tested this and just flew the command flyer to a random spot on the map. I then took control of one of the turrets, and the command flyer flew towards the hangar. I may be a simple A.I. command or something. Maybe some specific flyer spines?

Okay I'll just end this right here by telling you how it works, though not how to do it because I can't be bothered with it right now.
1) Shuttle has its own flyer spline.
2) Flyer spline takes it to enemy hanger.
3) Lua command lands the shuttle and forces everyone out.
That's how Mav did it.

It's so simple. I wonder why Pandemic didn't do it.

Either the development budget or the time crunch. They only had a year.

The flyer splines are set up to have landing implemented but they probably didn't have time to get it working since, well, heh, it doesn't work. :V Same with fighter squadrons.GAB wrote:It's so simple. I wonder why Pandemic didn't do it.
