How do I convert: .max to .obj

The title says it all!

If anybody could please tell me what program to use or if anybody could do it for me, I'd appreciate either one of those

If this is an autodesk .max file then it is a proprietary format of 3ds Max and can only be opened by 3ds Max, much like the .scn format for XSI.
