Hmm, I don't think there's enough info to say anything about the timeline for portal and Half Life really, except that it's very likely portal 2 takes place after HL1

Portal games take place in the universe first established in the Half-Life games. And, yes, they do all fit together. "Portal is after Half-Life 1 and before Half-Life 2," Wolpaw said. "Without getting into it too much, Portal 2 is further down the line." I asked if that meant that Portal 2 is, say, after Half-Life Episode 2. He didn't want to get into that.

I was just about to quote that.
Anyway, I expect to see some references to Black Mesa and/or the Resonance Cascade (they were competitors, after all), and maybe a couple references to the Combine (like a crashed Scanner in the bottom of a dark pit, it could have wandered inside somehow); besides that, that one achievement makes me believe that we are going to see the B*******, but that's all.

Supposedly from a timeline I read a while back, the timeline goes something like this:
HL1, Seven-hour War/Combine Invasion, Portal 1 (Or HL2 and Episodes, I forget which came first), A huge timelapse of 100 years or so, Portal 2.

Valve have just released another trailer for Portal 2. This one highlights the caring nature of the bots you’ll play as in co-op.
Expect two more videos of this ilk before the game gets released on April 19, and check the site tomorrow to read Craig’s preview of Portal 2. It’s got spoilers in it and everything!

I've been playing through the first again. So much fun and I can't wait to see how 2 plays out. Especially co-op. That'll either build or destroy friendships.

Just to update you guys on the situation, it seems this is an entirely new ARG involving uhhh... potatoes... yes. It all started when Valve made a "Potato Sack Pack" sale or something, containing many indie games; players were quick to notice something odd in these games, strange glyphs, secret codes and nonsensical phrases were found all over them and in other Valve products such as Team Fortress 2 and the Turrets Trailer for Portal 2, and there was one thing they all had in common: potatoes.
It appears nobody really knows what is going on, but I can assure you that something is bound to happen soon.
