CD drive not working!

I believe it is dead. My CD/DVD drive is not working at all. There is no disc in it, thank god, but it isn't opening, not making any sounds, and an error occurs when I try to eject it through "My Computer". Whats going on here?

Most computers have an emergency eject latch, so if you do follow the directions below.
First, find a paperclip. A large, thick one should work the best because it will be the sturdiest. It has to fit though so it can't be too big.
Find the tiny hole on the front of the CD drive. It's usually on the right side just below the tray, next to the eject button.
Now bend the outside edge of the paperclip outward 180 degrees.
Now stick the long end into the hole in the CD drive and push firmy. It will hit the emergency eject latch and put the drive open a little. Depending on how stiff the switch is and the spring strength inside the drive, it may pop open an inch or just a half centimeter.
If you can't get your finger in there to pull the drive all the way open then get a thick, stiff paperclip then use the paperclip to pry the drive the rest of the way open. It doesn't damage modern drives to push and pull the tray so open it all the way.

Don't have an emergency eject.
WOW there are alot of things about this computer I do not like, but this takes the cake.

Well I haven't heard of that in awhile. Are you sure? Make sure you look everywere around your drive for a tiny hole.
Also what exactly does the error you get when you try to open your drive say?

"An error occured while ejecting 'CD Drive (D:)'."
Now that I think about it, and I spelled it letter for letter, word by word, and my spell checker says "occured" is spelled wrong...
This seems highly suspicious. Should I do a virus check?

Occurred has two Rs and that does seem odd that an official computer error would have a misspelling. But back to the drive problem I'm afraid there's not much more you can do. The emergency latch is built in
almost all computers for exactly this. All that's left really is to try restarting or rebooting your computer, and you could try opening the drive in Safe Mode.

Ah, it's not dead. After rebooting the computer, it's finally back on, however my Dad now thinks that we have a virus, as do I. Thanks man!
