My opinion would be the top comment.
YBRR88 wrote:Your are commenting on this game as if this is the finished product. Alot of the features in this game was scaled down for testing. They really didnt intend for this beta to show what the BF game is about., thats why they have a non disclosure agreement not to show the game to anybody else, because they might think this is an actual representation of the full product. Theres alot of things we havent see that will be in the full game. Just like how they didnt make the UAV availible in the beta.

Anyone else having problems downloading the beta? It's telling me I "don't meet the requirements" to download it. I don't have my age on ANYTHING linked to my EA account, so it's not that I'm 16, and unless Origin has an IQ of 7, I meet the minimum system requirements, and have at least 1.5x all of them.

Strange, mine worked to problem. I'm at 50% right now. I started downloading around 4:30.
Try again?

I've been trying again and again since about 2:50 this afternoon, and I also tried at about 11:30 today.

I downloaded it to my 360 and I try to connect to multiplayer but whenever I try to it gives me an error saying that it lost connection to the EA servers. Is anyone else getting this?

A. It's a Beta. It's also free.

Complaining about a Battlefield game in beta. It's called beta for a reason and not demo. And Battlefield games have a tradition to be bugged in beta and even after release. But DICE works on that and focuses.
Just calm down.

Yeah. But people going under the map? That happened to me one minute after I started the game, they should have noticed that a long time ago...
I also can't change my keys to mouse buttons and it's crashing all the time.
Why even release a beta, when it's so bugged? Certainly won't help their sales...

Well clearly you've made up your mind. That after 72 hours of going from zero players to tens of thousands, everything should be near perfect.
I don't think you understand the point of a "public beta". They haven't hired any professional beta testers. No one but the people who have coded the game have touched it, and of course they're probably not going to find every single one of the bugs, because they are testing the game how they coded it and how they meant it to be played. It's similar to editing your own paper. Sometimes there's a spelling or grammar mistake you completely overlook because you're reading the paper the way you meant it to sound, not what is actually there.
So to answer your question as to "Why release the beta when it's so bugged?"
SO THAT THE PLAYERS CAN FIND AND REPORT ALL THE BUGS.
It's not like it's in alpha stage where not all of the models or animations are finished. Everything is done, they just need to iron out the kinks. Hence, a beta test.

I'll agree that it is pretty buggy, however that's not what I have a problem with. For me it's the whole website thing. I'd rather have an actual ingame menu and server browser than having it in a web browser. Plus you're not even able to change settings until you spawn. I'm really not liking that part of it.
Besides that though, the game looks beautiful. The gameplay also seems pretty good, even if it is just revised BC2 gameplay. I wish I could really get deep into the unlocks and stuff, but I absolutely suck at the Battlefield games, so it ain't gonna happen.

As I said,
you can go under the map. It happened to me only one minute after I started the game, so why didn't they fix that after the Alpha?
I just hope this won't be like Crysis 2. Totally bugged in the demo and after release, then they released some patches which fixed only a few things, and then they ignored the game...

And youre sure of this? You actually went under the map yourself? Cuz when I played, that was just a kill/spawn cam glitch. When I was dead and looking at either my killer or my teammates, they appeared to be underground, but when I spawned, we were all above ground. And even that was only on laggier servers.
But no, they wouldn't necessarily HAVE to fix it during Alpha, it could be an Internet data transfer issue, if we consider that before the public beta went live, the only testing was done on DICE's local network.

Yes, I am sure. There are many spots on the map where you "sink" into the ground. I can shot people above the ground, but they can't see or shoot me.

It is true that there is a small "river" area that you can fall through and do that. The only explanation I can think of for why this missed DICE's eye was the fact that they fixed something, and a few other problems popped up, like this.
Once again, it's beta and it's DICE. I'm taking it with a grain of salt.
@Fingerfood: I'm glad it's the weekend so I can finally check it out. Does Origins have an overlay like steam with a web browser? If so that'd be amazing and fix alot of complaints.

Nope. You "launch" the game which opens the Battlelog website. There they've got all the features of a server browser and community and stuff. I'd imagine it's like COD Elite, but that's another topic.
So you find a server and a little popup comes up in the page displaying the status of your connection and BF3 loads in the background. After the map loads you can change the focus onto BF3's window and play from there. When you're ingame I don't think there's any overlay or anything, so to switch servers you just Alt-Tab over to your web browser.
After playing the beta for awhile I went and played some BC2 and did pretty well. I guess it's just BF3 that I suck at.
EDIT: Guess I lied. Just got 14 kills and got first place on my team. About 5 of those were in a quintuple sniper spray.

German law is awesome. You have to type in your ID number(and the certification server seems to be non stop unavailable) from 6am to 11pm if you want to download the BF3 Beta, but after 11pm youre able to download it without any age certification... As if people who arent 18 yet arent allowed to stay up until 11pm...
Well, anyway its finished now, see you on the battlefield! (Platoon Admin please accept me, Schlchtwtrfrnt is the name)

According to Dice that was due to terrain deformation being turned on, which they have now turned off, so it shouldn't be an issue anymore. They also said that the beta was not representative of the final game which is at a later stage of development, and that particular bug has already been fixed.
Also, the beta is an older build with a lot of features turned off, so it is mainly a test for servers, and to highlight any bugs that they may have overlooked.

Played 3 rounds so far and I have to say I'm highly impressed. Not only gameplay wise but also how it looks and runs on my pc. It meets all recommended minus the gfx card (I have a 240 Gt). I cant wait to have enough sleep and energy to play tomorrow.

What do you think about the flashes when a sniper is looking at you? I think it's too exaggerated.
Same with the tactical light and the laser pointer...

Thanks for clearing that up!
Now I'm a bit more positive.
