Gametoast.com Modders Contest 1 - can you make this fly?

This is a small contest to see if any of the great modders here can make a model (that was first programmed to be a turret, then was later added to the game as a command post) could be made into a flying, battle ufo.
This is the model :
BFBuilder\Assets\Sides\CIS\MSH\cis_bldg_forwardcenter
The Mod would take this model and add the following features :
Make it Fly using any of the other ships flight functions.
Make it pilotable
Co-Pilot controls a gun similar to the atat co-pilot
Troops can stand in the back area and be shuttled / or maybe use the 4 computers to do "something" weapons related.
Make the radar/antenna on the back do something, anything. (be creative)
Have fun Modders, I hope to see everyone get involved, your creation will be featured in an upcoming map and mappack and your name in lights!

Yeah sounds great. Guess it won´t be that difficult. The only problem is that you won´t have a cockpit view.

Imagine this thing up in the air with 16 guys on the back moving slowly but heavily protected .... this ship will would rain hell on its enemies.
What about using some of the umpteen cockpit views from other units?

Okay, here's a start... it's based on the Millennium Falcon odf I've been working on, which is itself based on the Y-Wing and LAAT... It has pilot, co-pilot and 2 passenger positions (added 1 after the screenshots were taken); Pilot and Co-Pilot both currently have a single Y-Wing cannon, Pilot also has Y-Wing bombs. Pilot has Y-Wing cockpit view, Co-Pilot has SecurityCam view.

Looks cool. Can people just stand on the back without actually entering? Or do they fall off to easily?

Looks sweet! Im Impressed, nice texture, hehe. What about the radar thing in the back , any chance this or the back pcs can be entered and "something" used, (a weapon ) or maybe the force push that fred was telling us about, or maybe a beam like the atat has . I was wondering that as well,can / how many stand as non entered piggy backers. id love to test this out get say 10 of us on there and have a raiding party!
Nimlot and I were talking about a space duel map where 2 huge ships (one for each faction) are next to each other and the only way to get to the enemy ship is via 3 of these on each team. Cannons on the huge ships could be used by infantry to secure a destroyable cp in a giant bay on the side of each ship. What you think?

sound like fun guru, provided we can tweak the "flying cps" appropriately

and maybe more than 3 of them. and i hope you can just "ride" in it w/o being in an actual spot.

may need to make some kind of bridge for that map just so players with ai dont sit around doddling, but regarding the riding without entering, i think i tried on some other ships to just "be there for the ride " but got dropped once the person turned or took off too fast.
anyway I guess well wait for saturn v updates

yes, definitely the bridge(s) sounds like a good idea.
and yeah i know, iv tried to like hop along for the ride on like the tanks and the republic gunship, and you just fall out, which sucks, although iv been able to sort of stay in the desert skiff, but you still fall out. i was hoping this model would be different though, and maybe it will be.
when bconstructor comes out maybe we can add some sort of barrier to the "flying cp" so the units dont fall off.
i dunno, just a thought.

Diet Dr. Pepper... I Found the file, but I dont know how do animate it, or what program I need to use to open it, or how I add the vehicle to the modding program.

Well, its a text file, and you use lua to "animate" it. I would suggest taking a step back and try to learn more about the basics of modding battlefront before starting to do something like this.
