Conversion mod

Which conversion mod should I download?
1.Star wars battlefront conversion pack by GT/TAW clans or
2. SWBF1 conversion pack by marvel4

Also do you think its worth having the conversion pack?

It depends on what kind of content you want. If all you want is converted maps from SWBF1 with stock sides (plus Ventress and Kit Fisto heroes, I think?), go with Marvel's mappack. If you want the SWBF1 maps plus many mod maps and modified sides, go with the Conversion Pack by Teancum/Maveritchell/many other people who contributed. Both are of high quality; like I said, it just depends on your preference for content.

I'm partial to the Conversion Pack, but only because it's a big part of GT's early legacy. It and xwingguy's Space Endor map were what drew me here in the first place. :)

Also are these 2 conversion packs compatible on the 1.3 r129 patch? Because I just installed the swbf1 patch (not by marvel4) and it installed r117 and I had r129. So if I reinstall the r129 will the conversion pack not work?

Marvel4's ports are far superior. From someone who has spent lots of time playing SWBFI I know what the lighting and textures are like. And Marvel took the time to add the correct units for the correct planet and lots of small things that make you appreciate the mod. Also the convo pack isn't stable. When I had it installed I had many crashes but since marvels are just a group of addon maps the crashing is gone. And since Marvels are addon maps you don't HAVE to have all SWBFI maps for any of the maps to work. (Why you wouldn't want any if the SWBFI maps is beyond me! :) )

convo pack: Yavin IV Arena Rebels wear desert uniform
marvel4 pack: Yavin IV Arena Rebels wear forest uniform plus the vanguard has forest gear.

If you want I can post a screenshot of SWBFI map then Marvels version jus to show how similar they look…

Evolved plus marvel4 is awesome. But like Eggman said, if you want just the SWBFI maps go with Marvel's conversion pack. But if you want a bunch of extra stuff then get the conversion pack, just know the ports aren't as good of quality.

Thanks im going to try out the bf1 conversion made by the contributors and other people and if that does the dark trooper glitch then I will uninstall It and install marvel4's mod.

He said that sometimes the dark trooper was the only playable character in another topic. Since the dark trooper takes points to unlock, he could not play.

Ok so I just download the bf1 conversion this morning and I have played it this morning for an hour and so far the dark trooper glitch has not happened!

I've never had or heard of that glitch before. :?

That would be hard to deal with.

Yeah I know, but it has happened at the maps included in the bf1 convo, and stock maps.

Not on every map. Some maps have default sides or defaults with additional units added.

When I said custom sides I mean the added sides. Sorry for not being clear.

Although I don't remember playing any Convo pack map without the modded sides...

I have a quick question...
Does Marvel4's bf1 conversion 1.1 work with v1.3 r129 patch or just the r117?

Marvel4's mod are just maps converted from BF1. There's nothing there related to the 1.3 patches at all.

In other words, yes it's fine. It works with any version of the unofficial patches.

Although I highly recommend having the 1.3 patch r129 whether you need it or not. It allows for you to use freecamera, fakeconsole, select campaign maps from the instant action list (to play the campaign) and you can disable the annoying award effects and noises.

SWBFII isn't right for me without the 1.3 patch. :D


swbf2, did you try Marvel4's conversions yet?

I am about to, I just extracted the files to my addons folder. Also do you need marvel4's era mod for this to work? If I have BFX, do I need to uninstall it in order for this conversion to work? and and one LAST question, what does my video settings (in the options page of BF2) have to be set to?

You do not need Marvel's era mod for his converisons to work.
You do not need all of his converted maps in your addon folder for any 1 conversion to work.
And no you don't need to uninstall BFX (although there are far better era mods than that out there :wink: ).

Your video settings can be whatever you want them to be. Usually people choose what will give the the best quality with the least amount of frame drops.

Are you having trouble with your video settings in maps?

I switch between both at my leisure. I prefer Marvel4's actual BF1 conversions, but I prefer the ConvoPack's other features, so the latter usually wins out.
