I strongly reccomend not doing this, these type of units are really lame, and make for un-fun gameplay. anyone could have a standard issue musket, not a knife in a real combat situation.

i could set you up with one of these http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_rifle if you are interested ;)
"that Yankee rifle that they load on Sunday and shoot all week!"

In short, the spiraled barrel of a rifle causes a bullet to spin thus increasing its range.

OK, you are a much more experienced modder than me, I will listen and obey.

I knew about that.
He wrote that it has a "moderate" reload,(Higher than the low rate for Musket) implying that it was a different sort of reload. (Thus a different sort of weapon)

I was making the reload faster because it was in the hands of a higher ranked soldier, indicating more experience, thus that person would be able to reload faster.

Ah.
So it's the musket but with longer range and slightly shorter reload?
We'll ssee if it makes the cut.

ok, I reccomend, since you don't want your medic to be a viable fighting unit, just give him a standard musket, or a pistol, and no other weapons.

I suppose you could give the medic class a surgeon's saw and perhaps a "medical malpractice" buff (works like neuro poison). Both are just as deadly as any other weapon during the time. Maybe a soldering iron too.

That is a GREAT idea.
Maybe a soldering iron too.
I lol'd. Make it work like Mav's Calamari spark thingy?
That "medical Malpractice" is in for sure.

Yes but all of the soldiers in the CSA knew how to use guns since they were hunters. So shouldnt they all have the same reload?

Not to seem rude... but that's really a rather ignorant statement. It wasn't a war between hunters and soldiers, it was a war between the South and the North. Saying the entire Confederate army were hunters strikes me as rather odd.

Although if you wanted to make things interesting, the confederates could have higher accuracy and a faster reload (due to hunting experience?) while the north could have faster movement and more health (better equipped?).

It is a little too bold to claim all CSA were hunters, although it is likely that many were.

The economies of the Southern states were based on agriculture meaning the large majority of soldiers in the CSA army were farmers. Hunting fulltime for food is a thing of the distant past, unless you are on the move or doing it as a pastime.

Okay.
School is almost over, so time for modding is near!
I need to do a lot of world edits still, and my modeler is MIA.
However, the sides are still coming along well.
Progress has been slow because I was working on a few other things.
But, no more!
UPDATE soon, perhaps?

Off-topic: Pastime as in a sport or hobby, not literally past time.

Since most southerners lived on farms most of them had guns and had more experience with them. I happen to live on a farm too and i can say from experience that majority of farmers or people who live in rural areas own and use guns.

OK - It's audience participation moment!
Here's a poll for you all-
SHOULD THIS MAP HAVE A CAMPAIGN MODE?
1. Nah, I like Conquest Mode better.
2. Sure, but it should be easy and quick.
3. YES! You should add an epically long and realistic campaign mode!

*Spoilerz for campaign plans*
Hidden/Spoiler:
If you chose option 3 that would mean all three days starting with Buford and ending with Pickett's charge and the Confederate retreat.
Let's get your opinions!

EDIT: Ooh, look at my rank. Very official-sounding!

3 totally it would be a shame to work hard on the new map and units than just have coquest.
