Space Endor

This one shouldn't require a whole lot of explanation.
The battle of Endor is probably the most exciting space battle in the whole Star Wars series, and I will absolutely not be able to do it justice. My goal here is to create a space battle that looks nice, feels like Endor, and keeps things fresh while at the same time not being a resource hog and meshing well with the other stock BF2 space maps.
This should be done fairly soon and then will hopefully be integrated into the conversion pack in lieu of Space Muunilist (this is part of why I'm trying to make this "feel" fairly close to the regular space maps).
Just to get this out of the way, some things you won't see, and explanations as to why:
1) Fullsize SSD - highly impractical, turns map into resource hog and doesn't add a whole lot (by being full scale)
2) Full ship interiors - some of the interior components will be different, but I'm not going to try to add full interiors. This can get tricky and sloppy pretty easily, and to top it off with no AI this becomes something you explore once or twice and then just get back to space battling.
3) Interactive Death Star II - you'll see it but won't be able to reach it (just like the Executor). It'll be there for ambience, but adding it in would make the map impractical and resource-intensive
4) Transport classes - this isn't about boarding the other ship, it's about space battles. Plus, I didn't see any transports in the battle.
Things you can look forward to:
1) Touched-up interiors (they'll be small, but they'll at least be a bit different).
2) Instead of transport ships, there'll be a B-Wing for the Alliance and a TIE-D for the Imps.
3) There'll be limited and conditional accessibility to the Millennium Falcon.
4) Weapon loadouts tweaked (they'll be similar to the ship weapon setups in my previous space map).
I'd love to hear input on stuff you want to see in here, as long as it doesn't fit in my "will not add" list. Please also mention whether you might like to see a CTF mode.

Please allow me to direct you to the topic title (
Space Endor) and the part of my post where I listed things I wasn't going to have ("3) Interactive Death Star II - you'll see it but won't be able to reach it (just like the Executor). It'll be there for ambience, but adding it in would make the map impractical and resource-intensive").
It's not that I don't think it would be cool, but like I said, it's impractical due to the fact that it would cause the map to be a resource hog.

Are you basing this off of the Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike Battle of Endor unlock mission by any chance?
Cause you've got almost all the ships in the same position as that mission.
I'm excited about this, although I think that Death Star skydome billboard could have a better coloring to it.
My suggestion would be to just to revert the texture to grayscale.

This is mostly just a personal preference, but I've always thought that the nebulas in the background for the space skies look pretty bad, so I think it'd look a little better if they were removed. Other than that, looks great!

Too sweet! Again new fighters, and as always, a real '
Mav'' map which is really original, and makes modders drool over it! :Q_______________________
Keep it up, and my suggestion might be, to maybe add some things to destroy.. You're a scripting MASTER, so maybe you can say to destroy some more things than only the common stuff!
Good luck on this, and i think i found my brilliant map Mav'

Good job! Id say, if it needs anything, it would be a movie realistic layout. Ill scan a layout I have (from a book) of how the map looks (if you need it, and want it to look "movieish"). Other than that, great!
As for what Mandarek said about destructible new things, that would be great! I would like to reccoment maybe changing from "You destroy the shield by shooting frenzily at the ship" to, shoot massivelly at a target on ship (shield generator, like the balls on the ssd bridge) to destroy the shield. Makes the map harder, and more fun.

well... it's about time someone got off their behind and made this map. i've only a few things to say. first, for your Millennium Falcon, have it only seat 6 (pilot, copilot, two extra dudes that can just shoot out missiles, and two gunners). second, color that Death Star II the right color so we're not constantly reminded that u just bummed it off the Endor map. third, this looks fun with B-Wings and TIE-Ds. i didn't think anyone here knew what a TIE-D is. I suggest, for your units, make a Mon Calamarian unit. and that medical frigate looks awesome. for the empire, just have it all Imperial Pilots really, stormtroopers would only serve the purpose of storming a hangar (which is why they're usually in landing ships, which you removed

). otherwise, can't wait for this one to come out. oh, and FPV for X-Wings look awesome.

Excuse me, my terminology was wrong. There aren't TIE-D's (TIE droids), there are TIE Defenders. Meant to make that an acronym, oops.

I love Space maps, and this would be a dream come true!
Also, the Falcon sounds sweet.

Although I personally dont remember the default space endor, the Death Star has to be darker. It looks too.. blue....

is it possible to spawn units and vehicles from say...a medical frigate?

That looks really good. Is it possible to combine the death star space with this or no? That would make it even cooler.

Did you ever get around that problem you were having? I know I probably wasn't much help, but it's been bugging me since I sent my reply. I have to admit my last bit of advice is really a last resort, and more than likely wouldn't turn up anything of worth.
How many cruisers and frigates are you using? I'm hoping this has a scale that feels like the battle, though it doesn't have to have the exact number of ships.

You mean the one by Redline? Remember the Space Deathstarmap itself is already lagging for some people...

It was an unrelated issue I figured out shortly after I asked a couple people for input (sometimes it seems like asking is all it takes for me to remember). There are only a few errors that'll cause a CTD like mine, and object/polycount isn't one of them, as it will show up as an error in the log.
And re: scale - there's one cruiser for the Rebels and two SDs for the Imps (fullscale). Not included in that are the two SDs in the background (which are just the basic SD parts, none of the smaller or interior stuff, and they're inaccessible), the SSD in the background, the 2 "Victory"-frigates, 2 corvettes, 2 Neb-B's (medical frigates), 2 medium transports (Hoth transports), and a background Mon Cal (which is like the background SDs in that it's just the basic parts).
I don't want to use too many starship models, because I want this map to run as smoothly as the stock space maps. It'll ideally look and feel busy (because of the way the objects are placed), but in actuality it'll be smaller-scale.

Oh, I did that myself, now that you mention it. I wish I'd thought of that earlier.
