SWBF2 Application
I just wanted to ask if anyone has this weird occurrence themselves. Whenever I exit Battlefront 2 lately, I have to manually end the process in the processes tab. I am not sure why this is, but it is strange. I wanted to see how many others here have the same exact problem. And for this reason alone, I cannot save my Battlefront 2 stats (not like those matter much to me, but it'd be nice). I've even Googled the problem and have had no results. I just want to know if there are any technical experts here that know how to solve this sort of problem, or if it's just a rare unsolvable instance.

I have never heard of this. I'll see what I can find around the web.

Well mine take about a billion years to load stuff like maps and the actual game. Dunno about your problem though.

Do you have Windows Vista? I had that same problem. I just updated to w7 then everything loaded faster.Noobasaurus wrote:Well mine take about a billion years to load stuff like maps and the actual game. Dunno about your problem though.

It has nothing to do with Windows Vista, at least not for me. The slow load time most likely depends on the number of other applications you are running. It can also depend on how well optimize your computer is (i.e. registry issues).

Slow loading can also be an issue with your graphics card driver. It will take 2+ minutes to load the game and maps. I have not been able to solve this issue. It will also prevent you from joining BF2 servers, but you can still start the server and host it yourself.

Yeah, my graphics card isn't good enough.THEWULFMAN wrote:Slow loading can also be an issue with your graphics card driver. It will take 2+ minutes to load the game and maps. I wondered why I couldn't join servers!

Yeah. Me, my game loads fine and doesn't take forever to load up. It's just the weird thing is that the process doesn't even end properly like it should when I exit the game. It confuses me to no end.

Re: SWBF2 Application
Graphics only produce lag when there is a load of it for the graphics card to render. The time taken to load things like levels or video games all relies on the amount and speed of RAM your computer has, your processor's clock and its number of cores, and how fast your hard drive can read/write data and how much free space it has.
On the case of processors, Battlefront will actually run better on a single-core Pentium 4 clocking in at 3.0 GHz than on a 2.4 GHz quad-core. This may be boggling to many; due to its age, Battlefront doesn't know it has more than one core it can utilize, and multi-core processors divide their speeds according to the number of cores.

Re: SWBF2 Application
There is a problem that causes the game to take a long, long time in loading maps. It's most likely some type of driver issue. On the same hardware, the game runs fine on Windows 7 but has the long loading issue on Ubuntu in WINE. It's not a memory issue.
Hosting servers when you have this issue isn't a good idea. It works, but all the connecting players will have to wait until your server loads the map. Most people would have quit by the time the map loads.
