New Xbox 360 Interface
Called "The New Xbox Experiance", it looks and sounds way too much like the Wii, especially your avatar character. What drove them to do this is my question. For you Xbox 360 owners out there, do you like it? I don't, the old interface was alot easier/better to scroll through and looked better.

Yeah, it's 100% pointless. Give me the old 'blades' interface back. If I wanted a little avatar I would have bought a Wii.

Love it, moves faster, less intrusive ingame panel, and has a multiple person private chat (no more trash talkers on Halo 3).

Re: New Xbox 360 Interface
Blades, I tell you! BLADES!
If they had kept the avatar junk out I would have been happy. I don't like the default scheme either. Still, I can't fight what Fusion and Penguin said - it is an improvement for the most part, just with a few Vista-ish useless features. At least with the Wii your Miis are used in games, which makes them partially useful.

Re: New Xbox 360 Interface
Does it actually detract from the interface, or is it just the concept of cartoony avatars that has you in arms? For example - and I may be speaking in ignorance as I'm not a 360 owner - I know that on my Wii, the Miis aren't forced on me. They're just there, as an option, if I want to play with them (which I did, and they were fun for a while). They don't show up in my user interface, they don't change anything about how games work (except for showing up in a few of the proprietary Nintendo-Wii-specific games).Teancum wrote:If they had kept the avatar junk out I would have been happy.

This is about as far as avatars go:

You can also use them in Uno, and that's about it for now. My only problem is that you can't change the color of their clothes, I had to use some sort of Jacket/Sweater combo for mine >.>

It's pointless. At least give us the option to turn that crap off. If I wanted a social network, I'd get on XFire. The only people I even talk to on Live are my cousins, Fusion and a few other GTers. I'd be really happy if I didn't have to deal with those toony lookin' things. The 360 has so much more of an adult feel, I would've preferred a Rock Band-ish avatar if anything at all.

Re: New Xbox 360 Interface
Ya know, I'll even go so far as to say I understand why some folks want all this extra stuff. That's fine. Just give me a no-frills UI as a choice. That's all I ask. Give me a Blades upgrade, but let everyone else have their avatars and stuff.

Are the avatars even required? My other two profiles don't have them and they're still working.

Re: New Xbox 360 Interface
It wouldn't even let me move do anything until I selected an avatar for the first time. Since then I've pretty much booted the 360 with Rock Band 2 already in. Maybe there's an option to turn em' off. I dunno.

Re: New Xbox 360 Interface
I just got my Xbox back after 2 months XD
I think the new interface looks nice, it seems more "open" then the old interface, where you it looks like you're constrained to only a few pages of content. As for the avatars (I just call 'em Miis) I think they're OK, it's not like its the most horrible idea ever.
EDIT: Oh yeah, anyone know when u install a game on your hard drive, does that mean you can play without your disk?

Nope, you still have to have the disc in the drive, it just saves on load time for some games.
