I know there are other games, but SWG just sounds so cool. The decision of whether or not i should get the game is tearing me apart!

yeah, thats the downside to it. I tried the trial-it was really impressive, but when I found out it was $15.00 a month, there is no way I'm going to waste constant money on a game. But if I had the money, I'd probably do it!

lev, the 3rd trooper is my toon named lordguru , he is a colonel in the imperial forces and wears the storm strooper class armor. Saturn and the lil trooper , ethas , are both Just Imperial Trooper armor.
SWG is massive , many thousands of players on many planets with always something going on, $15 has saved me $50 a few times on not buying other games- since I started playing it

guru,
Good to hear some positive feedback on the game most of what I've been getting from the reviews and people I know who played it didn't really like it. I also heard there were some recent changes that people were very unhappy about, but forget what it was. I might have to check it out.

A while back in this post someone said: are there any awesome free MMORPGS around. The answer is yes, just check out my post on it in the game informer forum.

I have 2 accounts now and play about 10 hours a day

*fears for Guru's eyeballs!*
$15 has saved me $50 a few times on not buying other games- since I started playing it
That's really the crux of the matter. It's a bit touch and go with me at the present. $15 (or rather it's UK equivalent) would be acceptable to spend on SWG, however I feel the ongoing costs would become a replacement to other game purchases particularly for the younger members. For instance I guess for some people that would mean missing out on other SW related games or even SWBF2. It also sounds really addictive and potentially great fun. Supposing your yearly budget for games is $150 would you guys personally recommend a years SWG subscription or $150 worth of a variety of games. Beg, borrow or steal $15 is not an option.
I'm also assuming to get the full benefit you need all the addons, Jump to light speed, trials of Obi Wan and rage of the wookies. Does the "starter kit" suffice or does it quickly become boring & limited without the addons. I don't fully understand but is it worth starting a subscription once the NGE's probs are ironed out? Lastly is there any potential for any form of "mods" within the confines of the game?

Yes, to get the most out of the game, and if you want to have any decent chance of levelling your character to the max level you'd need ROTW and Trials of ObiWan. Jump to Lightspeed is, I think, now given away free with all versions (since soon after the NGE iirc), and the space part of the game is *really* good. You can loot upgrades for your ship or buy crafted ones. Shipwright crafters can also "reverse engineer" looted parts to improve them. While you can have a lot of fun even as a novice pilot, the space game really gets as deep and complex as you want it to be.
As for mods, there are a few client-side mods for the UI but there's not much activity in this area.

Off-topic : Saturn', do you have any idea of the locations where those Star Wars Galaxies-related Modifications could be downloaded from ?
Indeed, I am currently becoming more and more interested in obtaining both informations and resources regarding this LucasArts video-game, and that's why I may be so curious once a few GameToast members engage a discussion dealing with it...
Thanks in advance, so !...

Off-topic : Be sure I would provide as
many efforts as possible to shrink
all sentences I might write in my upcoming conversations,
guru, and moreover, I
seriously doubt that
Star Wars Galaxies can handle
phpBB Code, so I guess you will
not receive
annoying "
Conversation Windows"...

Off-topic : I am not "
offended",
guru, but seeing me taking part in the different actions occuring in
Star Wars Galaxies Universe might not be
that easy, since I have
always created
temporary Accounts intended to make sure that I've learnt
successfully the "
basis" of a
specific Multiplayer video-game
before starting to "
immerse" myself inside it...
But do not forget that you will
probably succeed in meeting me in this
Star Wars-based Environment sooner or later...

Only mods I could find on google for SWG was one for music:
http://www.strategyinformer.com/pc/mods ... d/mod.html
It wasn't a very long search but maybe it'll help point people in the direction of other mods or the creation of potential mods.
