Zero-G Stormtrooper

This has moved far enough a long to graduate from the XSI model showcase to a real WIP :D

This is a Zero-G Stormtrooper (Phase 1). It is a pilotable vehicle with a blaster and mini-rocket laucher, both wrist mounted, and a grenade launcher mounted in the backpack. It can come to a near complete stop which is good for hiding and ambushing.

Please excuse the fact it is not textured yet as well the ODF hasn't been totally adjusted yet still working on proper speed etc to be more realistic.

I also plan on making a first person view as well as some good chunks for destruction (arms and legs everywhere :D )

Here are some pictures and a short video of it in game.

stupid question, but what is it supposed to look like when textured?

they apparantly have mounted laser cannons(but not as strong like in the clip!), a miniature photon torp(miniature)launcher, and two shoulder mounted grenade launchers. If you put them in a map I advise that you put proper planning for them to land in the hangar.

Actually the phase 1 looks more like this :D I just changed the hands a bit oh and maybe the legs and a couple of other things but that comes down to what I can do in XSI, still learning.

Also what proper planning? They land just fine Fraps just ran out on the one scene. Or are you talking flyersplinesfollower etc?

lol no that isn't my model that is a reference picture, mine is still very much mutli-colored.
As for the Phase 2 maybe it really is only changing the head part right :funny2:

I am saying that if you or someone else puts it in a map, they should give it proper bot path to land in the capital ship hangars. All the flyers piloted by bots that land or TRY to land in the hangar crash almost IMMEDIATELY. And if that is done, you should make it be able to fire weapons inside the hangar

That can't be done, part of a property of landing zones is that you can't fire weapons in them (at least not flyer weapons).

Also, bots can't land. Name one map you've ever seen a bot land in. (Hint: The answer is "there aren't any.") Even in the stock maps, AI doesn't know how to land.

it might make a cool vehicle on a land map where you could shoot rockets at infantry, but you might have difficulty finding a rebel vehicle to balance out the sides.

I had an idea like this for an underwater map where you used a water suit as a vehicle so you could go underwater, great job. :D

Ooo that would be a great alternitive use.
Two small bases with CPs, and hangars with shields.
you could float on out and cause destruction.

Work is moving along on the Zero-G, modelling is all done. The UV mapping is complete (next model I make is only going to have 16 polys :) ) Most of the odf work is complete along with effects. It has work lights, engine effects, it can come to a complete stop and even go backwards. It almost has three weapons, the blaster, the mini rockets and the grenade launcher but only two of the three are available at one time. Does anyone know how to get a third weapon working for the pilot? I know how to do it for a co-pilot but there isn't enough room in the suit for two people.

Oh and it has chunks!

The only (only he says) thing really left to do is make the proper texture file as you can see it is in the blue print stage :funny2: . I have also been working on a 1st person cockpit look as well, got the hands right now just have to do the rest.

And now the latest movie of it in action.

Woah! awsome lights and effects!

It has chunks and everything. :o

I only saw a couble problems.
The lights seem to linger once it blows up, and that ship turret hit you like 5 times :P

But the ODF is probably a tempary one.
