Changed appearance of DSII, does it look any better? I'm planning on using the skydome model in any case, since making an actual DSII model would be a prohibitive amount of work that would also be a potential source of a lot of lag (if I tried to do the model justice).

I might actually see about putting a shadow on the planet, since I've set up the lighting in the level to match the DS dome model.

Yay! B-wings
Will you animate some of the frigates and or background ships?

Nice work dude

I'm sooo glad you volunteered to help out with the Convo Pack. I needed someone of your caliber to help out, and it looks like I'm getting even more than I bargained for.

Btw, are you planning on moving the sky object death star? It would be cool to add a rotation to it. And teancum is right. Everything mav works on is 100% awesomeness and all the way thought throughedness. (Not a word. Who cares?)

Background, maybe. Probably no animated ships in the part you're flying in, because that would potentially interfere with the flyer spline paths.
Grev wrote:Btw, are you planning on moving the sky object death star?
It'll move around a little based on perspective, but I can't add rotation to it, since it's a 2-d object.

Agreed. I've always felt that the nebulae took away from the Star Wars "feel" of the space maps.

I'll third that
Very nice Mav'. Should be great fun once it's finished.
Are you planning on modeling Home One? Or are you just going to use the shipped MonCal Cruiser?
Any chance of a campaign mode?

I'll get some comparison shots of space with and without nebulae, so that ya'll can see what it looks like and I can get some input on that. Note that the nebulae were changed from the blue ones to a more subdued set of grey nebulae, so the difference may not be quite what you think.
Shipped Mon Cal is the plan - I have a Home One model, but the shipped cruiser works a lot better and it has a lower polycount.
And I'd be down for setting up a campaign mode, but I don't know where I'd go with it. Most of the space campaigns are just assault setups. I'm planning on putting some scripted random events into the regular assault game, anyway.

The corvettes are brownish in the movie too. and something everyone is always annoyed with is the turrets, making them not stupid and annoying would make the map better.

You could cut off a section of the space map far away from regular battle and make an endor, or just simply load the endor world in the lua, so you can play on the gound or space and make a lua there. Then if you wanted to get really fancy you also have the luke vader battle on another world in another lua. However cool it would be I know it would take lots of time to do, but I'd be glad to help with that. I am just trying to throw ideas out there to provide options.

Honestly, I think Pandemic meant the stock ship to be the Home One, but they simplified it quite a bit, and I believe the scale's off. If I remember correctly, according to SWTC the Home One is something like 3 times the size of an ISD.
For reference:

Ultimately, it won't bother me if it isn't changed, but I just have to point this out.

i think the moncal ship in the game is the home-1 type ship from balance of power with one of the bridge-type structures removed.

That's sortof out of the scope of Mav's project, and honestly nobody has been able to do that so far. Some folks have 'faked' it, but nobody has done it justice.

Turrets are all heavier turrets that have a much harder time hitting fighters. I know the single biggest issue people found with my earlier space map was the amount of damage done to them by turrets, and this isn't a factor this time. If you're constantly being hit, it's because there's a fighter shooting at you.

Now THAT is what I wanted to hear.

This map should be great.

Not to be a dork about this or anything, but will anyone care too much exactly what the layout shipwise looks like? I have two conflicting opinions on how this should be set up-
1) In the movie, the Rebel fleet moved away from the DSII to engage the Imperial fleet, so that they wouldn't have to face the superlaser. I think the Executor was still in between the station and the fleet, though (as evidenced by its eventual crash).
2) The
New Essential Guide to Vehicles and Vessels shows the layout of the battle thusly:
I think it looks neat with the Imperial fleet between the DSII and the Rebels, but I don't want people to whine and moan if it doesn't match up with some percieved "canonicity." (Which appears to be in doubt anyway.) Please leave opinions.
