I'm not optimistic about First Assault really having an atmosphere of Battlefront. However, I hope if this does well and SWBFIII is released, that SWBFIII is a true sequel to SWBFII. I also hope that, keeping in tune with tradition, modtools are released to the community. That would be fantastic.

From everything dug up so far I see it as the Star Wars compliment to Battlefield 1943. Online only, no AI, digital download. But that's just me speculating.

This game is going to be epic! At first I thought this game was a fake (or abandoned project) but now... I'm speechless.

Don't get your hopes up too much. Apparently, due to the new movies being released, a lot of the projects being worked on were flat out canceled or just delayed to work on the tie-in games for the new movies. 1313 is rumored to be one of the games that was canceled, so I wouldn't count on an arcade title that was supposed to go along with a game that never came out.

I REALLY hope this gets released. If it sells well, then we may have a chance of getting BF3, even though its very slim. And it seems the graphics will (if it comes out) be really good.

There were a few leaked videos from Kotaku today, and from what I can tell this game was meant to rip off Halo: Reach. From almost the exact same helmet scene to the hologram armor ability.

After what I went through for two years consider yourselves lucky it's in development limbo.

Games change. Sometimes video games change for better, sometimes for worse. For example, in Halo was slowly saw the addition of perks and classes, just like Call of Duty. Call of Duty changed too, as did Battlefield (although I'm a little bit more vague on this). My theory is that if Battlefront had been given regularly scheduled releases like it should have (III, IV, V), something like this would have been the end result. Lucasarts would have tried to directly compete with CoD, Battlefield and Halo, and we had been given a SWBFV (assuming SWBF was given regular releases) the game would be very much like an amped up First Assault. The change just would have been more gradual. We may not have even noticed it. I mean, compare the changes in multiplayer throughout the Halo franchise. If anything, Battlefront would have gone in a similar direction. Very few companies stick to the same template for multiplayer. Really, only Valve comes to mind, and even then. The only very positive thing I can think of for a Star Wars Battlefront III that is like a mainstream shooter would be an exciting cinematic campaign. I think a CoD style campaign could actually work very well in the Star Wars universe. Maybe even four, short campaign stories that all eventually intertwine (played from all four factions), but I'm rambling...

I'm not happy, but I wouldn't venture to say terrible. If I was in charge of Lucasarts or the Disney division that is overseeing Lucasarts, I would actually send employees out into the Star Wars communities and ask what they want a Star Wars shooter to be like. We Star Wars fans are a pretty critical bunch.

Well it certainly doesn't look like any battlefront 3 to me anymore, but I'll give it a shot if it does come out
