Shallow would make an overall better lighting effect. Clear blue is often associated with shallow coastal waters.

But when the water is too shallow, you might be surprised by an offshore infantryman. And that's too strange (at least for me) to be proper part of the map world. AND: For a game, there's no real difference between shallow and deep water - there's only water you can walk through, or water you'll drown in.
So, elmo you can make things easier (or even easiest ?^^) by having water that only disallows walking through - and not a single drop more.

I want to make the water deep but im having a very difficult time, blocking the AI from walkin into the water.

ok... i need some suggestions right now... I can't get background mountains into the map for some reason... (I can't alot of things working with my mod tools

) But Should i put the starfighters into the map? Because when i fly high... the SKY looks horrible... I posted a pic above... I don't know, do you guys not care about that?

What exactly is happening with the sky I sent you Elmo? Is it still showing as the old sky?

Well, i took the SKY from Naboo plains and got the nice blue sky with the clouds... but if i really want to enhance the appearance of hte SKY i have to get the background. I did everything you told me to do regarding the SKY so my sky is still the same blue cloudy sky... here's a pic:
I posted it already but ill do it again

Hmm... I'll see if the files actually have a separate mesh for the hills, but I doubt it. It looks like you'll probably have to lower the flyer height substantially or bring the sides of your terrain up more. Not much else you can do.

yeah.. i see.... Anyway... i have a few updates:
Inside the "Embassy" Are gonna be more buildings and Im putting an entrance (with an arch) I just have one question... for the ground on Naboo: Theed.. like it's all marbly or whatever

Is that a texture or a prop?
Posted: Tue Dec 26, 2006 5:24 pm
by Teancum
it's a terrain texture. It's probably in the BF2 Naboo assets as well. It looks darker in-game due to the lighting, but it should work for daytime.

If you are talking about the nice rolling hills with the waterfall on the one side then by the strangest coincidence* I was actually playing with this yesterday.
From BF1 resources there is a TGA file for the mountains.
What I did was copy everything SKY related to my world folder including the naboo1.sky file (I believe that was the name) renamed to my map name. Of course had to clean and remunge but the hills did show up.
Hope that helps

* okay it is not that strange as I am also working on a Naboo type map.

ok.. i have to clean and remunge? If so.. how exactly would i do that?
thx

In visual munge there is the button next to munge called clean
Press it, it will then ask you if you are sure click Yes. It only takes
a few seconds then it will say "munge process finished" then
press the munge button again this munge will take a little longer because it is remunging everything that it cleaned. Good thing to remember is after changing things like skies or TGA files especially if you are copying older files over new one is to clean then munge. Visual munge looks at date stamps to see if there are newer things added but it doesn't necessarily look for older things.
I am currently playing with sky files as I type (told you the munge after a clean can take a bit)

What now? At least we are getting somewhere

Should i just download your Sky file again Tean and munge to try it?

Yeah I'd clean and munge. But I can tell you right now that the skybox isn't built to allow you to fly that high, that's why it looks strange in the second pic.
