Overlapping textures

Post by Astute »

I've had to deal with this for a while now. What happens is that one of my textures overlaps all others on the map. If i remove this "dominant" texture, then the next texture in the quene becomes dominant (ex. texture 0 is dominant. If no texture in 0, 1 becomes dominant). Bascially, the map comes out looking all grass.. or all road, no mix in between. Anyone have a remedy for this problem?

So are you saying that when you add a new texture, all the terrain is covert by the new texture? And if not, maybe you should try putting the higher layer textures on the map by using spray or raise in stead of paint(wich is about the standart procedure). Or paint in on anduse blend to blend the textures together. Blending usually gives a very natural look if used properly.

Nope, didn't help. Here is an illustration of the problem.

0= texture 0
1= texture 1
2= texture 2

Playing field

In zeroedit____ In game_____ If 0 texture is set to nothing: In game
000011000____ 000000000____ 111111111
022112120____ 000000000____ 111111111
002112010____ 000000000____ 111111111
121222111____ 000000000____ 111111111
002122012____ 000000000____ 111111111

That seems to be the best way i can put it. On a side note, the sky doesn't appear either, could this be related?

Ok, did a little experiment, and found that it's actually the detail textures that are overlapping. That explains why my second texture would overlap if the first one was gone. Note that i use the same texture for both detail and regular. Is this a problem? do i need two seperate(yet the same) textures for both detail and regular?
