Ponyo

So, I've noticed that another Hayao Miyazaki film (or should I say masterpiece  ) is about to hit the theaters soon called Ponyo. Here's the trailer. I can't wait for this anime film to come out in theaters soon, and the fact that there's an all-star cast adds to the anticipation (even though I realize that that's a money making scheme by Disney  ). I've always liked the films by Miyazaki, and I'd really like to see this one. So, is anyone else anticpating this film?

I saw the trailer, I think it's kinda cute how the main voices are Frankie Jonas and Noah Cyrus. It reminds me of old cartoons like Pokemon.

That's actually the regular style for anime/Japanese cartoons.

I know it says "inspired by" the Little Mermaid, but am I the only one here who can't see much of a noticable difference in the plot AT ALL?

Mermaid falls in love with human male/Little kid saves the planet with the help of fish

At least from the trailer/what I know about Little Mermaid, I'm gonna say I don't see many similarities (I'll read up on the plot if you want, and come back)

OK, what I got from the trailer was "little kid wants to be human, falls in love..." I only saw it once though, so idk...

I only saw it once, too. Where did you see something about him wanting to be human and falling in love? (This isn't me being a jerk and trying to make you look like an idiot, I just want to know if I overlooked something).

Disney goes Anime? Interesting. All star voices in it, too. Liam Neeson FTW.

Actually, Disney handles all of Studio Ghibli's work when it comes to the US. The one time they didn't, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Winds got massacred.

Nah, those two are nothing compared to Liam Neeson and the other notable starring actors.

Yeah... watched it again, I have no idea how I got that stuff... maybe I was just thinking about Little Mermaid while watching it and got something different... idk.

Oh, sorry Gangster, I guess there are some similarities that I didn't see watching the trailer (at least one, which is a pretty big one).
Hidden/Spoiler:
She (Ponyo) does want to become a human because of a boy she befriends. That's the only one I saw from skimming Wiki, but I'll agree that that is a pretty large scenario, "Fish-girl befriends/falls in love with human boy, wants to become human to be with him."

Yes, I already admitted that I was wrong.
