Google SketchUp to XSI

Post by epm01 »

I was following AceMastermind's tutorial on getting SketchUp models to XSI but I've gotten stuck on a step and couldn't figure it out. I'm supposed to export it as a .zip file but all the options that I got is .kmz. So how do you export a model in SketchUp as a .zip?
While I'm here I thought I'd might ask...is possible to unmerge objects and if so, how?

Thanks in advance.

You're supposed to export it from SketchUp as kmz then change the extension to zip.

To "unmerge" objects in XSI just make a polygon selection then right click>Extract Polygons (Delete)

This might sound stupid but I can't actually get the extension to change. I add a .zip part at the end of the .kmz files name but it doesn't change to a .zip file. To be honest I've never actually changed a extension...I usually just change the program that its opened with.

Right click > Rename

Select/highlight .kmz, type .zip in its place.

This one isn't like that though...

Left is before and Right is after, I've tried switching it to a winrar file and then opening it and even tried compressing it to zip but neither have worked.

Open any folder and in the top toolbar go:
  • Tools>Folder Options>View tab
and uncheck:
  • Hide extensions for known filetypes
then press Apply then OK and try changing the extension of your kmz file again.
