A *WIP*, Dromund Kaas - 50^%

I've been working on this map for quite awhile actually. First, it was a Mygeetish Rhen Var: Dirty Ice (A pretty enjoyable map for bf1, I'd like to add :wink: ), then it was a sort of Cloud City map, then it was some other stuff, until it became this map (which I never thought would work out, believe it or not), a swampy, ugly toxiccy feelinggy sort of map. You can say I'm pretty proud of myself. I have to say, this particular planet worked out pretty well for my map, because halfway through production I decided to try and sumbit this to Galaxy in Time, who in turn told me to make it with sith vs. old old republic sides.

Now it turns out that Dromund Kaas was fought on back in the New Sith Wars (check my sources, I may have misread, http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Dromund_Kaas) and the clone wars, so I could easily change the GCW era and have things still work out. But of course, the sithtrooper has been giving me trouble, so I might make GCW conquest just some sort of hunt mode with Officers and Darktroopers.

The title suggests that this map is over 50%, and it is, just something like 52%, or 57%, but it's more thatn hallfway done according to my original expectations. So far there haven't been many problems, except for a few buggy stuffs to work out:
  1. Fix the Sithtrooper, if people actually care about him that much,
  2. Fix some horrid floating objects,
  3. Polish bot planning and barriers up a bit (they're not that smart yet :P ),
  4. Add one more cp( the only problem is, i have two good spots, but I can't chose which to use :x )

I realise that these screen shots aren't the best for showcasing the map -except for the first one- but they were the only ones I have up on photobucket right now, I'll get some others up, don't worry. :o

EDIT: I do like the last one though. "Yee-haw! We've won!"

So, umm, yeah...

Offtopic: Question though, could you perhaps help me out with my spawning problem? :?

On-topic: Anyway, this looks great.

Offtopic: It's cool I stopped my crashing, all's I gotta do is get to be able to spawn at the assigned locations... :/

Which heroes are you going to use?

mmmm, you bring up a good point about the heroes... can people give me suggestions? i can't decide.

Kinda off-topic: LOL That's what my maps are like. I get stuck 1/4 of the way through it and I never get one done.

That map looks awsome. It looks more like a Yavin 4 map.

Some ideas for your map:
1.Some of the land can be smoothed out.
2.Put some death zones in some of the areas. Make it so a character can walk in toxic seas.

For your heroes I would recommend some of the ones from Rattatak arena in the conversion pack. They are KOTOR era heroes. This map is a KOTOR era map, right?

If you need any BETA testers, I am willing BETA test for you. (not a plea or demand)

Offtopic: Well, I'm more 2-3/4ths done on mine. I just wanna be able to spawn in mine so I can take some pics lol I mean no crashing anymore, but I just wanna spawn... I WANNA SPAWN!!! :lol:

Ontopic: Agreed. If you do need Beta testers, send me a pm. I'll test for you. I haven't testing anything since RotE 4. I'm bored. lol But this isn't a plea or demand.

But guys, don't overwhelm him with 'can I beta test?' questions. It aggravates the mappers when you do that. But mine though, seems desperate, I could care less if I'm picked or not. Cause I am busy with a map of my own.... which I desperately need help with. I'm trying to get some people to join me to make my own mod team. :P lol

If you can't decide which spot to put the CP in put two Cp's in the spots or don't put them in the two spots at all and put the CP somewhere else...

I like the dust on a map you wouldn't really expect it on, with Dagobah props and all. Also, I love your tree placement, there's not too much, but enough to give the sense of "forestiness".

In the screenshots, there is some sorta jagged terrain on the ground, might want to smooth it out a bit?

What spots are you considering for the cps, exactly? Could you do both?

I'm looking forward to this!

k guys, I've been out today, sorry. :P couldn't work on it much.
I'll take the advice and smooth out those jaggedness, slightly.
Ooops. Didn't realize in the first post I didn't show you guys both spots. Arghh, my memory seems to be failing on me!

and for you, potential beta testers, when I send it out, I'll be asking you guys to look for floaty stuffs (sorry, couldn't resist :mrgreen: ), and eventually telling me what kind of sides I should use for the cw era, if people want new sides (poll idea! :!: ).

oh yeah, and just for the record, I haven't been getting any lag on the map...

EDIT:
Rikino - K, smoothed out the jagged spots, for all that care.

LastJedi - mmmmmm, I'm not sure about the death region. maybe damage, or putting them in obscure random places would improve that idea, but I don't really want your reinforcements suddenly popping on your way up to your siege on an enemy command post. :lol:

I was thinking more like a slight health drain in some of the water to improve the toxic feeling. Also you might want to make the water dusty as well.

Razgriz - yeah, finally did it. of course I'll ask for the beasttamer skin once I get the little bugger working, I should probably ask for the assets all over again, nothing is working. Oh, and by beasttamer, is it a red sithtrooper, because that I might also use as a commando.

A beast tammer is in kotor 2. A sith commando has silver armour but the beast tammer would need a weapon like a force pike. If you cant find one then u can use it as a commando
