So, Jim Cameron, director of great movies like Titanic and Terminator, and great but not as great movies like ALIENS, is releasing a new flick by the name of "Avatar".

It looks kinda cool, but it just looks like another long, loud, plotless popcorn-mincher. In other Words, Transformers 2 all over again.

But that's just my brutally judgemental opinion, tell me yours!

I actually like the Transformers movies. But I agree about this one. Especially since I can't tell wtf it's about. & not in the cool way, like Cloverfield did it.

Haha......my wtf reaction when i saw the trailer was "Woah, is this a halo movie? Wait, creepy blue elves from LoTR! Avatar? This better not be that weird cartoon series. This actually looks like a decent movie. More halo rip-offs. More creepy blue elves. Plotline FTL?"

(Alternatively, for those of you who haven't seen either of the first two: ET + Pocahontas = Avatar)

the video game was given some pretty disappoint reviews. it's a prequel, so no real spoilers for the film. but apparently it was super repetitive, whether you play as human or Na'vi.

Those blue alien things look annoying to me. Juhani-type annoying, but worse and blue. Therefore, I will not be able to watch this movie. Hehe

I think all the hype about this is terrible. The movie doesn't even look that good. Realistically, you cannot judge a movie by short previews and the director accurately.

I'm actually thinking of watching this movie. Not that I care about the plot, but how the film was made. I've seen some pictures of the movie, and the visuals are really nice... I wonder if the same 3D Technics could be used in video games...

I was actually thinking more along the lines of starcraft + warcraft the movie but yeah that pretty much sums it up.

and RT is one of the worst places to get a movie review.

I'm iffy...it looks pretty cool, but I'm dreading the environmental message probably shoehorned in there, and the alien design is pretty bland to my eyes. (The Na'vi only: the wildlife looks awesome)

I think South Park was right on the money when they called it Dances with Smurfs.

And I'd argue that Aliens is on the same level as either Terminator movie (What third one? What fourth one?) and probably a little above Titanic. The Abyss is also great.

In other words, I'm a fan and I'll definitely be checking Avatar out.

I still can't help but wonder; We get no ALIEN movie, we got a mediocre Terminator movie, and then this? What is James Cameron smoking?

Quoted for truth. On the Harry Potter and Twilight reviews, most of the people who reviewed it were tasteless fangirls. I'm guessing angry 12-year-old fanboys are the ones reviewing this flick.

Uh, the T-Meter scores on RT are actually a pretty reliable assessment of the general opinion of professional critics.

And for the record, the T-Meter score for New Moon was a pitiful 28%, so...

I use RT alot and usually decide whether I will go to a movie or not judging by its scores, and the fact that it gives Avatar a 89% means I will defidently be seeing it.

Why are you reading the reviews of non-professionals? Rottentomatoes is an aggregate review database, just like Metacritic. You can find idiots with opinions everywhere, but if that's all you're seeing at Rottentomatoes, then you're not looking very hard.

I also like those hornet-like ships a lot. (the filmmakers seem to have invented a great arsenal of weaponry) I'm just making a halo 3 comparison for easy comparison purposes.
