i started workin on this today, only took like maybe an hour or so to get this much, this thing was hard to model though cause of its curvy shape, since alot of my models are lackin skins too i might just have to bring in an old friend to do them and he can blow shipped models outta the water. im also hopin to use this model as a base to make the police cruiser and bomber as well. i know a couple of other people have attempted this model but none of them got finished or they were just props and hopefully i can get this one done.

A Naboo starfighter is something i'd love to see in battlefront, best of luck with getting it finished... :)

Nice job mini. The only fault I can see is that the droid socket isn't tall enough and is too squarish; you should be able to sacrifice some polys to make it rounder.

Not another Mini WIP! :P

Anyhow, spectacular as usual. I'm thinking that the connections to the engines were a little thicker than 1 mm, but hey..

Maybe I'm just wrong, I'm no authority on the N1 Starfighter. Anyways, yeah, let's see this baby finished!

well the texture is almost done, i had the day off. :P ill post a pic of the texture when its done completely, the shape is about as acurate as can be, i took a REALLY high poly model of it and took renders from all orthographic views and then put them on grids and modeled over all the 2d views so the shape and proportions should be VERY accurate, im also taking renders of the high poly model to use for the textures.

Looks amazing man. Its one of the first (if not the first) really curvy models in BF2, can't wait to see how it looks ingame.

Hey, know what would rock? A cockpit that you can see through. Course, if that means that this'll sit as a WIP for a few hundered months, then don't eeeeven think about it. But I still think it'd be sweet. :P

haha, the only reason why so many things of mine never got finished cause they had no textures, but im trying to go over all of them and change that, the virago is NEARLY done but the collision on the lower wings isnt working right, i used a VERY rigid collision pimitive setup on it so the collision fits is perfectly. but back to this model, im probably just gonna jack the droid texture from pandemic since i definitely dont feel like modeling detail onto a droid that your only gonna look at up close if your in the hangar. also, if i do make a cockpit for it itll be after this model is done and released then ill make a second version on my own free time and add the cockpit.

Beautiful!

One thing, though, is I'm pretty sure that the cockpit didn't have yellow paint all over the transparisteel. :P

Not to nitpick, cos its a Diet Dr. Pepper good model, but shouldnt it be more... shiny?

if im being premature, and you just havent done it yet, my bad...

i could make it chrome in XSI but that would be a waste of time since XSI and pandemic shaders arent the same, also i have the shading set to textured decal which is the standard for game models that have no shaders applied, i can make it chrome but it wont be until its in game, besides the only areas thatll shine will be the silver areas NOT the yellow, i hate it when people paint a ship to be dirty and then go and slap a specular shader on it, looks so noobish.

WOW! Your fighter blows mine out of the water! Major props for getting the front end to be curvy. Textures pretty darn good too

yeah the whole chasis was made just by taking a cylinder with 1 stack high and only halfway around with 6 sides and i just kept extruding the edges to make it row by row, it took a while. :P i want everyone to know that the textures arent mine, theyre from a cinema quality model, i just took renders of it and kinda pieced it together, but it turned out alot better than i thought.

not if you have a good spec map eg only for windows and the like ;)
Very nice work! Its way above GT average. But i believe you can get rid of some loops probably? Would also be cool if the cockpit and the hull were one mesh, that would make a specular shader look better as well. Though you don't need spec on the yellow parts, making a spec map only for the chrome stuff is a waste of spec map pixels, isnt it? YOu could make some shiny scratches or stuff like that.. And of course the cockpit has to be shiny and/or transparent^^

EDIT: whoops, this post answeres minis last posting on page one ;)
Good texes, although you've "stolen" them. Pretty sharp for a 512² also. Hope you got the author permission ;)

Ahh, the textures aren't your's. I was wondering how you textured it so fast. Great work so far though. What make this even better is that you had a great model in your possesion with textures n' all and instead of adding a few hardpoints and clicking export, you chose to make your own. way to go mini. You rock!
