Alzoc 3 - Blizzard 2.0 [Cancelled]

Ok ok, I know, it has been less than a month since I released the 1.0 version of this, but i couldn't resist. :D Here I am to announce the development of the 2.0 version of Alzoc 3 - Blizzard.

The main focus in this new version will be the implementation of random time of the day/weather. I tried to put this on version 1.0 before releasing it but when I realized the amount of work and time it would take I decided to leave it aside to start working on it now. Yesterday I started this and I got quite satisfied with the results and wanted to show them to everyone.

Please, keep in mind that this is very early work. There are still many things from the blizzard environment that I'll have to adjust to the new variants, like those Near/FarSceneRange thingies, with play an important role on the view distance and all things related to it.

I'll also attempt to fix bugs from the first version, add some new things, change others and make improvement where possible.

Below are some pictures from the map on it's current state. There are four pictures of each of the current time of day/weather variants: dawn, dusk and of course the blizzard. I might also add a night variant, but I want to focus on these first.

Please, feel free to leave suggestions. Right now they are very welcome.
For those who already played the 1.0 version, you can leave suggestions for things that could be improved and/or that you think should be added or changed, and oh, let me know what you think of these early results.

EDIT:

This map in no longer being worked on. You can find a link to download this map's source files here.

Those look amazing  , how did you get the light to affect the terrain without burning?

The good mapper never tells his secrets... just kiddin'

In fact it isn't the same terrain for all. Each variant has it's own terrain with the lighting color pre-applied.

Really enjoyed 1.0 so I'm looking forward to this. The new weather settings look terrific.

Dude, the dusk looks really great! all of them look pretty darn good actually! why not include all of them? ;D A suggestion would be snowed theme droid skins and maybe use the galactic marine skins for the clone wars era.

Already? Cool. I'm torn between voting for the Blizzard and the Dusk setting.

Actually, they are all included in the map. The game randomly picks one of them when you start a mission.

Looking great GAB. Shame I haven't been able to, and right now can't play the map (processor failure).

I do, however, want to help. I want to get new skins for the Tatooine buildings, to make the map feel more unique. I don't really have the ability at the moment to help. Maybe I can get my computer problem sorted out and then help out before the 2.0 is released.

No problem WULF. Help is always welcome.

Oh and I think you will be able to fix your computer in time. I started this just yesterday so, I don't think it will be released very soon.

I can't vote for one of the weathers, because I like them all pretty equally. There needs to be an "all of them" choice. :u

I vote Dawn. No, Dusk. No, wait Blizzard.
JK, they all look great but Dawn is the best.

I think all the new weather settings look great. I thought the 1.0 looked fantastic, but even on my new-ish computer there was still some lag with the blizzard raging on. Do you have any other plans for the 2.0, such new gamemodes, additional revisions to the map, custom sides, or anything else?
Regardless, I think this will be an excellent revision to an already great map.

Surely. These are things I've been thinking about.

Semi-on/off-topic kinda: With my new computer I'm purchasing next week, I'll be sure to do a proper review for 1.0, maybe even with voice if anyone can tolerate it. :P Also when this version comes out, definitely will play for sure. Definitely also expect glamour shots in the glamour shots thread. 1.0 from the 5-10 FPS I got on it with this stupid machine looked great as it was, but with my new machine I'd be able to review it for ya properly with maximum FPS. Or MAYBE I can just do a couple gameplay videos or something, or even edit a little video together advertising your map, kind of like how I advertised those couple of era mods awhile back via 'trailer-style'?

Either way, this is just all looking amazing, definitely. Great job thus far, GAB!

Thanks for the positive comments guys.

Today I've been working a little on the dusk setting. I added some fog, mist, those light shafts that you see a lot in the endor map, and a couple of other things.

Here are some pictures of the dusk variant in it's current state:

I guess these pictures will render a few more votes for dusk on the poll... (just hope that dawn is able to catch up when new pictures of it are released...)

I vote for dusk, but try to still have it snowing, i think in my opinion that would be an epic atmosphere
