Sky change - problem

"I'm new to modding", like someone said. Well, i have very sadly problem with the sky. And I cannot explain for sure what is wrong. Well, to the deal: there was Yavin sky. I copied end1.sky with the needed materials. And pasted to the my world1 folder. Make the switchover - and nothing. In ZE I can see new model of sky - Endor. In game - still Yavin.

After few days I decided to delete old.sky(yavin) with all other files with "yav" and another sky, that I wanted. Like a result: black hole all over the sky.

Need to know:
1.)why sky wasn't changing;
2.)what to do to put some sky again.

Thanks for future & "I'm new to modding".

2 things that could be the problem and i had too. 1: you forgot to munge ; 2: you didn't replace your MAP.sky (not sure about this)
It sounds like you'd use fierfeks modding tutorial. if Yes try it again and do it exactly like he does.

I got the same exact problem once, what sky are you trying to use? Then maybe I can help you a bit more, and give you some step by step instructions.

VM only munges files that it has detected as being updated - so if the date stamp on the replacement sky file is older than the sky file you removed, the "new" sky file will not be munged. It's a simple problem, but it has an equally simple solution: just open the sky file, re-save it, then munge. :thumbs:

Edit: Whoops, skipped over the second part of your question. To get a sky functioning, you first need to have a .sky file in your world folder. Then, make sure you have all the dome models and textures the .sky file calls for. If you do that, and keep in mind what I mentioned in the first part of my post, you should be good to go.

A week of suffering just needed to re-save the sky-file. I feel like a fool. Thanks all.

Don't feel that way. Everyone makes dumb mistakes when they start out. I was turned off of even getting started for a long time because I didn't realize that ZE brought you into the world looking right down the Z-plane. I couldn't figure out basic world editor navigation.

Just make sure that you take a look through all the tutorials we have available in the modding "Everything you need" thread. You'll be able to find lots of links to anything you need to get started and get used to the tools.

Seems like a common problem, I also had this issue. It took me forever to figure out to put the dc: in front of your side to load from your addon folder, so we all make silly mistakes in the beginning.

And then once you think you know a lot, a whole new world opens up that makes you think you've just begun...

Sheesh, you are all dumb... :funny2: I'm only kidding, I myself thought I had to use XSI to create the terrain and place objects and just do everything in there, so don't you worry about it! :)
