Some Help

So a guy in my clan has convinced me to buy it. I am broke as of now, but X-mas is coming so that's np. What is the problem is that I have a low-end PC. Low-end as in 512MB of RAM. Low-end as in an ATI 96-something. If I get it SWBF2 is gonna be uninstalled, go under my desk, and played on occasion. (If not for gametoast and my clan this would have happened long ago)
So w/ that said:
1) Should I give up SWBF2? Its a great game and I love it but its going out. Ill keep it but wont play it to much at all.
2) Can I run BF2142 on my slow, low-end comp and still Type papers surf the web at a good speed, do all the stuff im doing now or will the comp kick the bucket.(which its gonna do in a year or 2 anywayand no sooner)
Thanks for the help

Ok, min system requirements for BF2142 are:
Windows XP
1.7GHz processor
512MB RAM
4GB hard disk space
128MB DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics card
DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card
DVD-ROM drive
Graphics cards.. Nvidia Geforce 5700FX or higher, ATI Radeon 9500 or higher. Obviously these are the minimum specs, the recommended ones are much greater. I think it'd work on your machine as is but I'd recommend upgrading to get the full benefits of what the game has to offer. On to the next bit, should you get the game, well in my opinion definately yes, to me SWBF and SWBF2 just feel like "light" or inferior versions of BF2142.
Here's a link to the EA Battlefield 2142 site which has the demo version of the game, probably worth giving it a look see before you think about spending any money.

Hope that helps!

I found the demo doesn't run like the full version though, I have this:
Windows XP
2.67GHz processor (Celeron)
1.5 GB RAM
256MB DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics card GEFORCE 7800 GS OC
DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card
DVD-ROM drive
-I have lagging issues, and I contacted EA, they said it was most likely my processor (which sucks  ), so if you have a celeron, don't think about it....

In what way is it different? I don't have the full version yet but i'd be more eager to buy it if it was found to be a tad better than the demo...

In terms of lag things generally aren't too bad (I certainly don't think it's because of your CPU). I have heard of reports of lag in the demo etc... however some of the causes are addressed in the full game and certainly some will be addressed in the forthcoming patches.

What did you find disapointing about the demo? tell us a bit more and then us with the full version will be able to let you know how (or if) it differs.

Well really i can only play online without issues if i have it on the lowest of settings. Just wondering wether there could be slightly less issues if i pump up the graphics a tad...

Generally (from what I can tell from various searching) BF2142 seems to be one of the better games for "lack of drag", that being said there were noticed to be in some instances higher lag in "overclocked" systems. Whether this is something that has been addressed in the full game or the updating patches (patch v1.05 is currently on active Closed Beta testing by the Combat Studios team) is something I don't know. Can you post your system specs to see if there's some tinkering around that could be done so you could potentially get more out of the demo or game (should you decide to buy it).

Well too late i have the game already. My specs are as follows:
Intel Pentium D 2.66GHz
Asus P5LD2 Mobo
1GB Ram
nVidia 7300 GS 256MB
That is all that's relelvant.
