I downloaded some new Visual Styles for my Computer, but they don't show up on the list in the display properties. The Visual styles I downloaded before today are there, but all of the new ones are not, except for one. I see no major difference between the file structure of the new, non-working ones versus the old and new working ones.

I have tried restarting and re-logging on, but nothing is refreshing that list to include the new styles. I have patched my Uxtheme.dll file. (I even re-patched it. No luck.)

Anyone got any ideas?

Would this be XP? If so SP2 or SP3?

You need to get the patched uxtheme.

You could try this UXtheme patcher. It says its for XP SP1 or SP2. You may of got one that was for SP3.

I had it patched before correctly. It's just that some of the Visual styles aren't showing up. The others are there and work fine.

It seems to be, that there is a limit of how many will show in the control panel/Display listing.

If you want to try out others, you'll have to got to the directory, and double click the msstyles.dll or whatever file, that comes with all themes. The display preview window will then pop up, and you can apply the theme.

My computer never shows all of mine. No idea why.

The stuff in the bottom half of the tutorial is what you want to check you have in place correctly.

Ah, Here's my problem: The folder names did not match the .msstyles file names that were inside. They have to match exactly. I changed the folder names and they appear!
