*WIP* Kashyyyk: Kachiro (exact Episode III version)

Having been inspired not only by Stager00's magnificent Geonosis map and by recently watching the movie again, I have begun work on a full - scale recreation of the battle on Kashyyyk. Let me make 2 things perfectly clear:
1) This is not a port of Kachirio Landings from BFI. This is a completely from - scratch map that I am creating, paying as much attention to the movie's layout as I can (sitting right by my TV paused on lovely wide shots of the area).
2) Don't get your hopes too high, as this is VERY w.i.p., so if I do finish it, it will take a very long time (big project, and I don't have loads of time to work on it every day. It's also the first map I've done from scratch).
However, my plans for the final release include:
-Huge scale - the largest possible size for a map
-Landed Venator in the background - full scale (already implimented)
-An early estimate of about 28 vehicles (including flyers), 120 units on each side, and over 1000 reinforcements (if I choose to use conquest mode) - this is also wip, because as it is I think performance may suffer from the details, water, etc.
-True to the movie - overlook the battle from Yoda's war platform, spearhead the invasion as you ride in on a Snail Tank, or stand your ground on the beach, side - by - side with Wookie warriors!

Don't get me wrong, as I am very excited about this map - I just can't garuntee that I will be able to finish it. Wish me luck!

For your first map this sounds like quite the undertaking. The only problem I can think of is lag. Anyway, good luck! If you need any help just say so.

By the way, it isn't my first map, it's just the first that I'm going to finish (hopefully) that I made from scratch. I started three or four, but decided that I should only work on one at a time (and this will be it). So it's not like I'm a complete noob lol

Lag definatly sounds like an issue but the concept is wonderful. I never was completely satisfied with the map that came with the game. Perhaps you could look around for a Wookie Catamaran. That would add a realistic touch to the game. Also having a wookie as a selectable class (this is going to be only clone wars right) would be a nice touch. Adds to the feel of it.

Man you read my mind! At least one wookie class will be selectable and part of the Republic team. As far as the catamaran, there's one in game, but it's not finished....grrr. I'll keep looking for skins, vehicles, etc. that will help with the feel.

Teancum said it is only the ODF that is not complete, and that he might try and finish it.
I may not download this map when it comes out because i am out of memory on my pc nearly, but as soon as i get bored of one of the ones currenty installed i'll download it.

Best of luck to you, this will be an awsome map.
With the big scale, perhaps you could add a clone turbo tank or two? I've seen a pic of one around here somewhere...

there are loads of vehicles in the movie that are not ingame...if you can get as many of these as possible in, that would be great. Good luck with the map, it sounds like a truly great project when you finish!

Dwarf spider droid
I wish you the best of look, one question, will they have the 41st Elite Corps skin with Gree as commander?

good luck with this rather huge project maybe you might get some help from the clon wars realism mod for turbo tank at pt etc. im looking forward to this map so i hope you have good luck and great progress

I don't remember saying that. Anyways -- it's a lot more than that. The mesh is messed up and there are no animations for it. The best you could do it place crashed Catamarans as props.

Hmm... I may have a propersition for you. How would you like your map to be part of my Clone Wars Realism mod. I haven't even started looking at mapping yet so perhaps you could be my mapper and your idea and map could go along with a few other maps (that you may even make yourself) What do you say to that!!! Working as a team is most likely easier, in the words of Dragonum himself.

I am quite interested! I was planning on including your mod in this map anyway (if you gave me permission), because it wouldn't be an EXACT Kashyyyk without it

- especially without the Juggernaught. That + the crazy chicken walker + catamaran = fun for the whole family! I have to warn you, though - Kashyyyk is my main priority (it's a big project), so I may not be able to do a bunch of maps on the side.
Also, those trees in the assets folder are big, but not big enough lol. They'll do fine if nothing else, but does anyone know where I can find bigger trees, or perhaps a way to make those in the assets bigger (they're the perfect shape, just a bit too small)?

Sorry :p Yea. Jango, I wish you the best of luck. I'm a huge beta tester for.. hehe practically everyone, so if you need some. There ya go. Im here.

I love this battle. Plus I have an idea from Galaxies to place, well, for a special commando type class, the elite Kashyyyk Commando's. Not the Commandos from RC, but clones with type VII armor (501st style) With the design, Kashyyyk Green, and the rest all black. Im just saying.

Ill post a picture of it if you need. If you dont want it, that's ok. I was just saying it could, maybe, be an "addon"

Ofcourse though......you'd need to balance the sides out with a commando type class for the CIS. Maybe could be some camo droid. A reskin of the assassin droid, but with an E5 or something. If you like this idea for your map, just gimme a PM or if you have MSN, my hotmail is
[email protected] This is if you want to... I personally think it'd be a cool idea for your authentic Kashyyyk map. Who says there can't be an EU character?

Thanks Revan, but I'm pretty much only good at mapping and scripting - I've never even explored skinning and such. In fact, I'll probably be going with the Clone Wars realism mod (may even be released with the mod

). By the way, OGEB, my reply to your proposition is on the previous page.

However, you could talk to OGEB about including those models in his mod. After all, I will most likely be using lots (if not all) of that mod in this map, even if we don't work together (which I'm hoping we can do).
