XSI is going crazy (selection problem) [Solved]

Hi, for a while I've been using XSI with no problems ('chyeah, right.) yet. But now, the selection seems to have changed and behaved oddly for no reason. I am using the Edge select tool to get rid of some excess polies that the Filter polygons command couldn't do. I used to be able to hold down Ctrl + the left mouse button, and edges would be selected when I hover the cursor over them. But now, it doesn't seem to do that. Now it just makes one of those selection rectangles (don't really know their actual name). So I have to carefully pick each edge as I delete it. And for some reason, other random polygons, mostly on the other side of my model (yes, it's symmetrical) become selected as well, and when I delete the polies that I wanted gone, I find myself with some other deleted polies that I wanted there.

What's going on? How do I go back to the original selection mode? XSI appears to have a mind of it's own :?

P.S: Sorry the post's so long, guys.

Up on the right side is a bar that says Select, right click on it and it should give you a pop up with some options one of which is selection mode or something like that. I can remember of the top of my head what the default is suppose to be to get you back to what you want but play and I am sure you will find it.

You can also try pressing CTL-spacebar I think that is a toggle between modes.

YES! It's the Raycast mode that is default. Thanks FragMe! I think it was the Ctrl + space that changed it...
